    Literary Mags and E-zines?

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by ithestargazer, Jun 18, 2012.

    Hey,

I've done some research but am finding it difficult to find literary mags and e-zines that will publish new writers throughout the year. Though most of my research has been on Australian publishers, I've found that most only accept submissions at certain times of the year and rarely publish unsolicited stories/poetry.

Any advice? I'm looking for a literary mag or e-zine that likes publishing new writers (doesn't have to be Australian either).

    Thanks in advance :)

Have you looked at www.duotrope.com ?

It's pretty much the essential tool for magazines, etc.

That site's pretty good. Submitted to a few I found there although never found an acceptance there yet. (The few places I got accepted were local. Ever think of seeing if there are any local lit mags near you that you can submit to? They might be smaller but it's a start.)

I like Duotrope, but they don't regard humor as a genre (at least not a searchable one). Those are the only short stories I write >.<

Thanks guys, this is really helpful. I have tried a few local lit mags but they've all been pretty pretentious about publishing new authors. I'll check out some new mags and e-zines though on Duotrope.

    Cheers :)
