Well hey, maybe you can come here then. I would let you stay with us and everything. Then the little man would crawl all over you and make you play trains. He would be six in two years. Oh, how much fun he would have with you. :p LOL

I'm gearing up for it already...sounds like a great idea...I have 6 younger cousins, all within 5 years of each other, and girls...of course on my Mother's side, I shudder to think what would've happened if they'd been on my Dad's side. Killed them with criticism probably. But I love kids...:p

Me too. :) Children are awesome.

The bad thing about the thing about keeping one child and everyone wanting boys, what are they gonna do when there aren't enough girls for each boy to marry? Is that supposed to take down the population? Or will they just try to get brides from other countries? Then they would be breeding out their heritage.

Besides too many women lose babies everyday, that actually want them, boy or girl, to be killing so many babies. It's so terrible, and sad.

That's whats happening, in fact at places things are so bad that there are less than 600 girls for every 1000 boys...which results in inter-caste marraiges, and then they slam those who marry that way too..not happy with this, not happy with that. It's mainly because a boy is supposed to carry the family name on basically, that was the reason why the people in older days, when there were no abortions, had so many kids-desire for a male child. Basically what's bad is that this is the situation in the upper class too. The lower class just does it because they don't want to give dowry-they want to recieve it, the upper class does it for "superstition". They actually get the baby's sex checked, if the foetus is female they get it killed. Therefore the government has made it illegal to get the baby's sex changed. So, many of those who can afford it, go for selective fertilisation, where the X-linked sperms are washed out. The heights people got to!

That is really messed up. They should try to regulate it better.
But if it keeps going that way, girls are gonna be worth a lot more. Unless they are stupid (the government and society). No offense.

I agree with you actually...I don't mind the orthodox mindset of the Indian society in most cases, it is good like in preventing teenage pregnancies and STDs...but sometimes I wish things were different. The government is trying it's best, at least the good politicians are, the rest just take advantage of the situation.

Well that's just lovely then isn't it...*rolls eyes* I'd heard of the women being 'accidentally' burnt in a kitchen fire if they didn't pay dowry, and I was like 'WTF?!'

Well a friend of my mum's had 5 sons, after like the 3rd she kept hinting like 'oh well maybe the next will be a girl..I mean I can hope right?!?!' And when my mum had her scan for my little brother she was like 'oh damnn' cos she'd said to me I might get a sister.. :p

I think the population in Ontario is headed that way, too, Shadow Dragon. I don't know the science that backs it up, but some people claim that it's chemicals in our enviroment that hurt the Y chromosome.

Usually it's girls > boys with a very little difference. There have been odd cases, though.

For example, Germany after World War II. Men are quite less than women, simply because millions of them have died during the war, boys included. Men are obviously quite needed to raise a country that is literally demolished to the ground back up its feet (not wanting to sound sexist here, but I think you get what I mean). However, without any force in the birth process, for the next 10 years (I'm not sure about the amount of time, but it's short), the ratio gets back to normal. Miracle of nature, huh?

So yeah, such cases exist, but they are quite rare. And here ends my nerd rant.

    LOL

Girls can do the same things boys can do, in some respects. Like go fishing and like sports and whatnot. They tend to be the favs of the daddy's too. There is something to say for daddy's girl.

But I can also understand why it might scare you to have one. PMS, worring about boyfriends, etc.

But I know all that would change when you were holding that sweet little baby girl. You wouldn't trade her even if you could. There is something magical about holding your new little baby.
