Health insurance?!? In a country without national healthcare? That's pretty monstrous. Side note: I find it genuinely fascinating that the US and South Africa are the only countries in the developed world still doesn't have health care.
Yep, because he's going to make sure mom won't be able to pay for that school. One way or another.... If everything else turns out, I have no doubt in my mind that he would try to kill me before school there starts.....just to make sure I couldn't go.....
Your mom should check with her attorney. This may be covered in the custody agreement or in the section on child support.
look beyond the result and into the reasons behind his decisions. Maybe the man is broke and is too proud to admit it so he thinks of some other reason to send you to school 'a' instead of school 'b', cuts your health insurance etc. See if your mam is rebelling by insisting on school 'b' just to fight him. Maybe you're just a pawn in their game. My 16 year old wraps me round her finger more times than not. Learn to charm him, show love and duty to both parents, let them see you're the innocent - they'll come round
Ha ha. He's rich, has a great job, and buys himself all the latest video game consoles and games all the time. And she's not, she's paying for everything and told him about this and it's really my decision according to her. I tried to charm him. Ended with me crying in my room.
If she doesn't have an attorney or can't afford one, there is usually places you can go to that will give free legal advice.
In the UK, many atheist parents send their children to faith schools (often trying very hard to get them in) because the academic results are often better than the alternative schools (faith schools are allowed to select who they accept).
That seems mindbogglingly stupid of him. You're still a minor. If you get sick, he's probably still responsible for your medical expenses. (Also, does your parents' divorce not say anything about who's responsible for health insurance?) (Oops. I failed to read the last page. Glad that got resolved.)
In WA State the court mandates a parent with a health insurance option has to cover the child in a divorce situation. I didn't know anything about it until one day I just got a letter from the prosecutor saying it had been so ordered that my son's dad include my son on the policy. The prosecutor automatically pursues it.
I believe it is the same in most states, but who covers the child under their insurance is usually settled in divorce court, just the same as how custody is settled.
But what I'm saying is, it wasn't part of the child support settlement. Neither was it an issue for the state, I wasn't collecting any kind of welfare. In this state the prosecutor initiates parental support matters, no one need ask them to.
