So I was just trying to look at all the stuff I've posted here, but when I hit the option it only gives me one page of posting history. And I know for sure that I've posted more than what comes up there. So what's the deal? Do they just delete posts after a while? Or is there another way for me to find them?
You can go to "subscriptions". When you post in a thread it activates a subscription. There's still a bit of manual work to see your posts if the thread is long. I pick out a key word if I am looking for something I past posted and with the command-F (search) function it's faster to search pages for specific posts.
Unfortunately, the site's search functionality has been greatly limited for some time, since about two or three software upgrades ago. Depending on how lengthy your posting history is, there may be no way at all to find your earliest posts other than going through the forums page by page.
Cogito's right - it's due to limited search functionality. The posts are still there. I do plan on updating the search functionality in the near future, which will hopefully solve this problem. In the meantime, using the google search (in the navbar) might yield better results if you're looking for a particular thread.
it's really weird because i'm home now and i'm searching for "Friday Night Rain"... something i posted within this past year. and i get results for everything with "Friday" "Night" and "Rain" in the title... and stuff as far back as 2007. but I can't find mine for the life of me.
Put quotes around the words and add writingforums outside the quotes. I found it but I had to click on one more option. https://www.writingforums.org/archive/index.php/t-61034.html Do what I did and you'll see. Web Surfer Girl loves a web search challenge.
The new software should give you better access to finding your past posts and threads, as well as a better search capacity.
