After the format change, I had really bad problems with the speed of my text entry. There was a decided lag between me entering text and its appearance on the page. This was incredibly annoying and not conducive to participation on the site. I assumed my old Mac OSX.5.8 (Leopard) was at fault, but as of this morning, my typing is back up to speed. No idea why, but the entry speed seems to have returned to normal. And while I BOUGHT a new computer on Friday, I haven't set it up yet, so it wasn't a problem with my out-of-date software at all! No ...no no no...I was planning to buy the computer anyway. No need to slash your wrists just yet, Daniel...
Great news! Unfortunately for me, the gremlin that left you has arrived in my machine, though he isn't very active. About three or four times this weekend, I've typed a word and had to wait a second to see it appear in my edit window. Oh, well. It isn't a problem (yet!) so I'm not worried about it.
They indicate Reputation! We used to have this reputation thing in the old platform, but in the new platform it got replaced by Likes. A lot of people complained about that. It looks like Daniel has managed to re-implement the reputation system. I don't know yet if it works exactly the same way as it used to, but I assume we'll find out soon enough.
My reputation has more than doubled since the new format. At this rate I'll be God before the year is out.
It's okay. It looks like Daniel has taken almost all the dots from everybody and is keeping them for safekeeping right there below his avatar. So if you want to visit your little green dots, look up one of Daniel's posts.
