Writingforum.org members, I've been honored by having my short story, "Tethered in Purgatory" nominated for best SF/Fantasy short story. Here is a link to my story: http://www.theswordreview.com/item.php?sub_id=598 Here is a link to vote if you liked it and are so inclinded: http://www.critters.org/predpoll/shortstorysf.shtml In addition, following the link above will give you the opportunity to vote for other stories and/or nominate what you feel is the best you've read this year in SF/Fantasy and number of other categories. Thanks, Terry Note: you'll need to click to confirm your vote on the email reply (an effort to cut "ballot stuffing") and here is the link if you want to see the standings: http://www.critters.org/predpoll/tally.html
Well done. I read a bit of your story and it looks very good. Always happy to see someone succeed with SF writing.
Flexbile Garphite and DFischer, Last I looked, my story was at #2 for its category. Who knows where it will end, but hopefully not near the bottom. Tons of good works out there competing. Thanks! Terry
Wader Go and bluemouth12, Thanks for the compliment and I'm really glad you liked the story! Although I have not checked since leaving for work this morning, my wife told me my story has reached #1 (for now). Still, a lot of stiff competition. I took a peak at some of the others nominated. Thus, like DFischer indicated, it's quite an accomplishment being near the top. Voting is open until Jan 15th. There are tons of categories folks here might be interested in. http://www.critters.org/predpoll/shortstorysf.shtml Terry
Congratulations TW. Critters is a good site too. That's where I first got into Internet writing groups. I made some really good friends there, and there are a lot of very good writers involved.
Dropbear_Oz, thanks for the support. I am honored by and appreciate all of the support I've gotten for my story. Yep, a lot of good writers there, Axis. No doubt about that! And again, for all those who have read my story and think it merits your vote, I appreciate it. If you find or know of another one, not only SF but other areas, I know the authors/editors/zines, etc. would appreciate your vote. Terry
Hello to everybody! Hello, While searching on the website for some forums where I can express my thoughts by writing so I can sharpen my writing style well, I happen to come to this site and realize that this is the one I am looking for. rambo
I think you'll win it. And welcome rambo, this site is great for getting feedback and improving your writing.
Kel Fiesty, thanks for taking time to vote. I hope you enjoy "Tethered in Purgatory". Torpeh and bluemouth12, thanks for the vote of confidence. Last I looked my short story was 4th place. I've been been as high as first but been pretty consistently in the top 5, so I suspect it is pretty close. Any vote readers would give my story would help. Voting ends on the 15th of January. Any votes you'd cast for your favorite, mine or not, I know the authors (artists, ezines, etc.) would appreciate. Here's the link again: http://critters.org/predpoll/shortstorysf.shtml That will take you to the SF/Fantasy short story category, but if you look at the top, you can click to all of the other categories. Terry
Just wanted to let ya know that ya got my vote. It is a fabulous oiece and you shoukd be proud of your accomplishment. Remember, no matter what happens, the fact that you gave it a go it was really counts. But it really is a fabulous piece and I really enjoyed the read.
I just finished reading your story, TW. It is a work of art. This is exactly what good writing is all about, so let me just say I hope I can write as well as you some day. :* -Resident Mexican
Resident Mexican, Your comment is inspirational, and I am happy you enjoyed the story. I see no reason why you (or other writers on this site) can't complete equal or better works as you move forward. Terry
I read and voted for the story. It was very interesting to me because I always told people my vision of hell was to be placed in a tree or some inanimate object your human consciousness but the inability to do anything about it for eternity. Thanks for the visualization!!
Traci, Thank you for the comments. I is great to hear that the story held your interest and was one you could relate to. Thanks for the vote as well, and all who took the time to read and cast a vote, if not for my story, but for ones you felt merited it. It appears that my story earned Third Place! However anti-vote stuffing software has yet to be run. The official count is due in February. Terry
Well that is great news Terry, congadulations and can't wait to find out the final verdict on your work. Once again congradulations, it is great to hear you have done so well with your story. Ari
No clue. Thank you, bluemouth12, for your kind word. I read the posted discussions here in this forum, but I have no clue where to write, and where to start. Could you anybody guide me and show me what are the rules and how to start? rambo
