    lol!
    That is funny.
At first I thought it was Flake and Fins as well.
I was going to tell him to.............wax, but that would have been rude.

I agree with this... I hide behind a picture of Great Cthulhu.

I make several avatars, none used as "masks" to hide behind. If I take a photo of a friend, of flowers, of my shoes, and I love the "feel" of it, I'm going to wear it. That's all there is to it. Besides, my face is there for people to see in profiles, anyway.

I prefer people to associate me with the things I say/write, not what I wear/look like though.

I guess I can see the avatar as a mask. I don't really give it all that much thought to be blunt, LOL.

Personally, I choose mine from some book, tv show, movie, band/artist, etc. that I like. If I come across an avatar from a movie I like, I'll eventually use it. Either that or an avatar that's "witty" or "funny" (in my opinion anyway ;) ). I always figured it was the same for everyone.

Also, it's strange to read that so many people apparently get voices from avatars, aha. That makes me curious as to what voices my avatars give off... I've never even thought about it.

i agree with the person who said that an avatar is like an online face because if you think about it we are all getting together in a place like a cafe and having conversation. its just a face to put to the name and the writing you see. sure most people are not too concerned about the avatar and let their impressions come from people's writing but it is undeniable that avatars do mean something.

i haven't come across anyone who just chooses a random avatar for no reason. i think everyone has a reason for their avatar whether it be a mask or a virtual representation of themselves. for me my avatar goes with my name and i chose this because i feel like the anime character went through things i can relate to and such stuff.

    I agree with this.

I just pick avatars about stuff I like at the time, because if I was anything like my avi. I'd be 9 feet tall, weigh about 600 pounds and be a killing machine o_O

I believe avatars can be a mask, but not necessarily. You can see people's personalities by their avatar, and their avatar is also the first thing most people see when reading the posts. So, I think of all of you looking like your avatar, unless I've actually seen what you look like.
