I have a character named Kerry Alleyne (pronounced "Allen") and he is a rapper. Or at least, he is becoming one. Anyway, I want him to have a 'rapper name'/ stage name, and I am coming up short. It would be really helpful if I could get some input. A little about him: he's from the Caribbean, in his early thirties, and trying to get noticed. He is a total player, dates a whole slew of women, and has two kids with two different people. He is also a big party-er. Any name suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!
Two kids per person or two kids split among two people? Also, maybe his first initials then his surname? Like J.D Johnson or something. That sounds rappy to me.
Give him a middle initial then use it in a name? K.I.A., K.M.A. Or any other combo, just make up a 'cool' acronym to fit whatever the initials are. Kerribean. Kallen. K-Allen. AKA.
I used to work in a school where most of the kids seemed to be aspiring rappers . . . attaching the words "Baby" or "Dog" to someone's initials was terribly popular. "Baby K" or K-Dog" or something like that sounds plausible. But not Dog-Baby. Not ever Dog-Baby.
LONGNECK I don't know if you'll even get this reference, but Longneck is the best rapper in the universe.
I think some people are counting out a sort of important detail; his personality. Is he (or at least his stage presence) kind of more egotistical and arrogant? It's easy to assume so when you consider he's an up and coming rapper, but lots of rappers draw names more 'meaningful' than just something that sounds self-glorifying and cool. Does he love his children, or is he doing it in part for them? Does he have strong cultural or family ties to his Caribbean heritage? When it comes to something like a rap name, it could be quite significant to your overall plot or at least to the character, or it could be meaningless and just be a rapper name, it really depends on the weight of what you want that name to be. I'm not saying the latter is "worse" or whatever, just pointing out that if you'd like the name to have a significance behind it, it would be worth considering some of his deeper personality traits and how you think those might effect what he'd name himself as a rapper.
