You know at a concession stand or booth there is a small swinging door on the end to allow entrance for the employees? It is sort of attached to the end of the counter on a hinge. It's a few feet tall. Is there a name for it?
I've never heard those doors described by any particular word or phrase, so it's your chance to coin a new word.
I found something called a counter gate latch so I think counter gate is one name. http://www.lozier.com/counter-gate-latch/ It has the top button you push down to open the gate.
I guess I will say swinging gate...This is what I was thinking of: http://www.unique-design.net/construction/Business/project3.htm They call it a service counter swinging counter door, kinda wordy, no?
They are called service counter ones only if they have a flat shelf on the top where you can actually service customers on it.
Yes, like on Laverne and Shirley beginning credits, when someone flips it down and she stops short and spills all the drinks. Maybe just counter gate. Aahhh! Now I feel like I'm over thinking a blasted door.
Call it a counter-gate and give it a thriller description detailing it's use as a spy tracking device with satellite capabilities and long-range jamming technology. It not only allows you to enter behind the counter, it counts on it...
