I am not saying that he was a bad monarch. But he was clearly very self-centered.

The memoirist Saint-Simon, who claimed that Louis slighted him, criticised him thus:

There was nothing he liked so much as flattery, or, to put it more plainly, adulation; the coarser and clumsier it was, the more he relished it.

For his part, Voltaire saw Louis' vanity as the cause for his bellicosity:

It is certain that he passionately wanted glory, rather than the conquests themselves. In the acquisition of Alsace and half of Flanders, and of all of Franche-Comté, what he really liked was the name he made for himself.[117]

Plus, further on, you give even better examples of self-glorification.

So we agree that it’s kind of some people want glory. That this kind of motivation corresponds to both the described character and the necessary villain.

None of that proves that he was called "The Sun King" at official functions. "The name he made for himself" means the fame he acquired, not a literal name that he gave himself. I understand that English is not your first language, so I can see why you misunderstood this.

However, the point is moot, and I don't want to derail this thread any further. I'm out of this particular part of the discussion.

    What about, John? :p
    I joke...
For me, because you are going to be revealing his name later in the story, I would stick with something simple, and seemingly narcissistic (whether he gave himself the title or not, something that pulls on that feeling).
Sometimes when I don't want something too obvious, I will look for variations on a word that fits the theme I'm going with, or look at particular words in other languages. Maybe play on them a little. I suppose it depends how obvious you want to be.
I'm interested to find out what you settle on.
