Someone bought property in an isolated area where he is an outsider. He is then set upon by the original property owner, a person with a history of violence, with demands for money. I kinda get the loaded gun thing.
There are TV shows like The First 48, and Forensic Files that name names. They are produced by large production companies with armies of fact checkers and lawyers. Writing as a lone old guy with a laptop, I change names.
I may have mentioned this before, but a woman writer whose name I don't recall said, as far as males were concerned, she got around this by using false names and saying they had tiny penises; no one ever stepped forward to say she was describing him.
I guess it depends on what the down side is of them knowing you wrote it, and if you are okay with those implications.
