Scrap the project and start with something you actually like. You still have a few hours left in the day and 28 days remaining in the month. NaNo is about pushing beyond the usual and breaking down barriers. All I can say is try.
I am working on a piece of erotica. So far, 613 words in. I kind of hate writing erotica though, especially for Nanowrimo, because I feel like I should be doing something serious. I have a serious idea but I have zero words done on it. Meanwhile, my roomie has written his own 20,000 word piece of erotica in about a week, and he keeps coming to me and bragging about it. I'm getting frustrated! I need to write SOMETHING I can brag about back! These are not happy days.
2,038 words for tonight. Had fun describing a dwarf home. Day three tomorrow, somehow I think weekdays are gonna suck through this.
Of course they are. I've been writing for 5 hours a day, but I can't afford to do that during school days. I'm gonna have to focus more on weekdays. At least I've got the next two days off!
I'm not sweating the fact that I'm behind. I would've last year. But I think this year as long as I've got something that I like in the end, I'll be okay. Last night I was still working on Not Pink. But I did a few paragraphs on Smackdolligus... trying to feel out a mood for the piece.
I wish I wasn't sweating. Couldn't really get into the flow of writing tonight. Was dragging myself the whole way but felt like failure to reach the 1,666 mark was not an option. 1,682 words today. On to day 4.
Whoa! 12, 243 and it's only day 4! I've got a lousy 500. I've allowed myself to be distracted with the prospect of doing a book trailer so last night I was working on artwork and only jotted in a few lines. Hopefully, tonight will be better.
I'm only at 6,981 but not letting anything bring me down so far (60,000 total now for the book. The Midpoint). This book will be finished by the end of the year!
Finally started today. Have 2,009 words. I go in 500 word segments. Only break when I have another 500 down. Though, I think I'm going to attempt splitting the 500 word writes more throughout the day. Have at least one in the morning.
I'm way behind. My erotica story has morphed. I've changed main characters and I don't know how to deal with that yet.
I've managed to get 1200 words done last night! hooray! Still working on Not Pink. Every time I think it's going to end Not Pink gets himself in a jam that needs one more scene to fix. I think by the time it's done I'll be in novella-novel range. My plan of knocking off short stories one two three is being stalled but who says Nanowrimo has to last only a month. Maybe I'll keep going on into December.
I plan to as well. On my current pace I'll need a few days of December to finish it. I'll still finish my goal by the new year though. Good luck everyone, day 6 lies ahead.
I think I may have written 3000 words this month... slow going but I do have 2 days off... if I dont procrastinate I bet I can write looooaaaddsss. thats the biggest issue, having it all planned in my head but taking forever to put anything down on paper.
4,012. It helped me to knock the first 500 of the day, earlier in the day. Motivated me more to write at all tonight. Think I'm finally settling into the story--writing better instead of just 'getting through it'.
Just broke 10,000 words. I'm trying to stay a day ahead, so I don't get behind on those days when I'm too busy to keep up.
