Greetings and salutations to everyone. My name is Ameasha Brown and I live in Southwestern Onario, Canada. I have been writing since I was nine years old, but nothing serious until four years ago. Getting married, having kids. buying a house and between my husband and myself working five jobs, there wasn't any time alotted for writing. Then my health failed four years ago, so now I have time to devote to my passion of writing. I truly believe it is my time to write now and my failed health is a blessing in disguise. I am not terminal, I am chronic. I have four novels on the go, three fiction and one fantasy. My fantasy novel of thirty-seven chapters titled The Calling, is in first draft and I truly hope to have it published traditionally in the near future. I have written a stage horror play titled 13 to be directed by P D Sathish Chandra in India www.ivcorner.com/whatsup.htm. I also write poetry and short stories. I'm so happy to have found this site and other writers and authors. I'm still learning the ins and outs of writing a novel and it can be frustrating at times, but that doesn't deter me from continuing. I hope to learn some pointers and advice from all who offer. Also to make many friends. Ameasha
Hello, Ameasha! I'm Jeanette Rose. I'm new as well, so you're not alone in that department. Like you, though, I'm grateful to have stumbled across this site where I can find other writers to help me through the journey of creating my own novel. You're work sounds impressive! For the life of me, I would never be able to create a horror story, let alone a play! My hat's off to you for that. Would you consider posting it? I'm curious about it, now, and I'm terribly nosy by nature. You sound like a wonderful writer, Ameasha! It's a pleasure to meet you. Jeanette Rose ~
Welcome Ameasha. This is a wonderful place to improve your craft. Have fun with your writing. If you need a proofreader or spell-checker, let me know. - BG_Hambone
Hello Ameasha, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
