Well I thought why not be the one to make the thread. So whats your new Years resolutions for 2009. Me nah don't make 'em.
I don't either. I will make resolutions any of the other 362 days of the year, but New Years and the days on either side of it are off limits. When I resolve something on any other day, I'll be doing so because I'm ready to commit to it, not as a gesture to tradition.
I have resolved to stick to my diet cause damn it is working! (BTW I officially made this reslution three weeks ago but meh ... it still counts.)
The most obvious resolution of a first-time novelist: finish that dang novel. Of course, I said that last year, but I had no idea how much more I had to go.
My resolutions usually revolve around the same thing. Just to continue to live my life. Not to follow the in-crowd and stray from my path, but to maintain my goals and work on my writing. I often stay away from new years resolutions because I never seem to stick with them. But one that has never changed was just to maintain my identity.
My resolutions are (1) edit/revise the rough draft of my novel, (2) write more short stories, (3) write a rough draft of my 2nd novel before the end of the year, and (4) do my best to try and get my 1st novel published, assuming I finish editing during the course of the year.
Probably just start studying in school. I've been getting A's withouth it but i since i have proper exams this year that will determine my future...so i might have to put some work in to ensure my top grades....yeah.
1) Have as many fiery arguments with boyfriend as possible to achieve sexy love-dovey make-ups afterwards. 2) Try not to lose said boyfriend in the process
I don't really make resolutions. I like to just continue on with progress, and I made a lot of progress as far as my personal life goes in 2008. So that.
I solemnly vowed to Bhaggu(God) on the 1st of January at 00:00 a.m, that if he let me put on 5-6 kgs of weight, I would be the best ever teen in the world. Obviously, he did not believe me capable of doing that, or he misunderstood. He made me 1 inch taller. eek! now I'm not the shortest in my family. Aside from this I also vowed to become a 5 pointer, get 95% in the ICSE, and then go to Maa Vaishno Devi's Temple, walking all the way up from Katara.
Anything worth starting or promising to yourself in a New Year is worth promising yourself or starting right now. Waiting for a New Year just means you are too lazy to do it now. Being lazy to start something says alot about the performance you will do in the actual event. If it is important, do it now and do it with all your effort.
Stop worrying abut things which cannot be changed Be more optomistic about things Don't get wound up about things that do no really matter Oh, and pass some GCSE's.
