    Punctuation Occupational/Formal Titles after a Name

    Would you personally cap these titles after names? I've concocted the following sentences to determine whether I've done it right. Capping titles can get fuzzy.

    Garry Cummings, Assistant Director of Marketing, resigned on Friday.

    If we use 'the' or 'and' before the title, I think we'd go lowercase. Do you agree?

    Garry Cummings, the assistant director of marketing, resigned on Friday.

    Garry Cummings, an assistant director of marketing, resigned on Friday.

    The assistant director of marketing, Garry Cummings, resigned on Friday.

    Police Officer Mike Bruno solved the case.

    The police officer, Mike Bruno, solved the case.

    Mike Bruno, Police Officer, solved the case.

    Mike Bruno, Niskayuna Police Officer, solved the case.
