Which do you use in your writing? I'm interested to know people's preferences. I tend to use OK. I never use O.K.
Awesome! I read that it originated from USA - but this is interesting to know! Thanks for the comment
This is the article I read: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/how-word-ok-was-invented-175-years-ago-180953258/ Found it really interesting.
How interesting! I use okay in character speech. In narrative I'm not honestly sure I use OK at all - but I'd probably go for OK in narrative.
The editor and philologist Robert Claiborne, in his book Our Marvelous Native Tongue, writes: As for me, I use "Okay" in formal writing, but for emails and such I'll use "OK." I don't use "O.K." because, as others have noted, it's not an abbreviation for "Old Kinderhook" or anything else.
I generally use 'okay', I don't think I tend to even do OK or ok even casually. If I was using it in writing I'd definitely go for 'okay' in narration and speech.
I'm pretty sure I always write "okay." Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever used "OK", even in online discussions and such. I think one should definitely use "okay" in dialogue, anyway.
I had a publisher change my okay to OK. I think there is usually some sort of house style that can vary from publisher to publisher.
