Do we need to post character templates here if we're joining for the next chapter or is there going to be another thread?
We're keeping things in the same threads for now. I'm working on a way to compile a list of links to each character profile.
I'm wondering about the phoenix, whether he/she (haven't decided yet) is going to need a character profile. It'll all be in the same posts, but a pet has to have some personality, right? And even if Sydrian can't control him/her, I'd like to keep it as a (partial) Player Character. Any thoughts? EDIT: To avoid a whole different post, should I just edit my old Bio, add her (yeah, it's a her) to the list, or just repost the bio?
I added two new features to the opening post of the game. 1) a summary of Chapter 1, and 2) a list of all the current characters with links to their most recent profiles. I will summarize each chapter as we go so that new players can get up to date on the history of the Orb and the Orb holders. Please critique the summary and let me know if I missed anything relevant. For brevity's sake I focused only on the Orb holders and only referenced other characters that did not enter the game in the conventional way. Please also check to make sure that I've linked to the correct character profile for your character. I couldn't find Magnafire's most current so The Magnan will have to tell me where it is. I'm looking forward to some character responses as to the transition of the Orb! Get posting!
Character Template Chapter Two: Pyree Lasstor Name: Pyree Lasstor Age: 32 Gender: Female Appearance Humanoid: Pyree keeps her black hair short, roughly 6cm on top and grading down to 2cm on the sides and back of her head. Her friends still jest at her stick-like frame which no reasonable amount of physical training seemed to alter. She wears her standard piloting gear, a grey and black form-fitting environment suit padded for impacts. She smiles frequently and cynically. Personality: Pyree let her age show in more than her years; curiosity faded to skepticism, and desire was quickly swapped out for willpower. She is naturally shy, and soft-spoken, often leaning toward the path of least resistance. She lost several of her inhibitions in attempting to solve the irregular nature of Pyritus, resulting in a small fit of insanity. With a new found tendency toward obsession, Pyree is driven to discover the true nature of the universe through science. As a pilot she learned, "anything that inhibits a quick decision is a liability", leading her to be judgmental and narrow minded, even in her research. History: Pyree comes from a space faring society where many planets have been explored, but very few have been colonized. In her dimension, mankind had only recently discovered that gravity was not a constant and instead a variable easily manipulated by advanced mathematics. She, as a psychic pilot, was trained to travel faster than the speed of light. With her aptitude measured at a young age, her parents sent her to school for elective psychic conditioning, where she learned how to manipulate ships and their mysterious power sources. After school, she worked as a pilot for a small enterprise that delivers medicines and supplies to colonies throughout the galaxy. Her ship and crew were left in the orbit of Theta Prime when she disappeared during her vacation days. After befriending several travelers and overcoming obstacles on the strange world of Pyritus, Pyree finally made her way back home through dimensional forces she still doesn't comprehend. Powers/Equipment: Pyree's piloting suit is geared toward mobility and survivability. She carries a heat based cutting tool and a personal calculator. With limited informal weapons training she is not quite defenseless anymore. However, disguised as a small adornment on her wrist she carries a portable energy core that, through her training, allows her to travel short distances instantaneously. The core has a maximum capacity of 20 space-time threads. The small gravity control device she keeps around her waist is a tourist's toy unable to handle the dimensional rift properties of the orb of Pyritus. Perhaps her greatest tool is her savings account, large enough to purchase considerably rare commodities that only the vacation world of an affluent space faring society has to offer.
My most recent posted Bio is on page 38, I just realised that in liberating the Dragon's breath power, Magnafire can no longer use it.
Name: Taliza (Her name in human speak.) Age: 129 Gender: female Appearance: Taliza is a she-dragon. Her scales are a dark, royal purple. She has a long neck, 4 legs and a tail with spikes running up her spine. There is a spot in the middle of her back that is free of spines. It is large enough for two humans to sit comfortably. She is about 8 feet tall and 11 feet long. Personality: Taliza is one of the few of her kind who believes that humans are smarter than they appear. She gives them respect and tries not to think of them as a lower species though sometimes their ignorance annoys her. She believes that humans have alot to offer. She is a loyal companion and is not afraid to fight. She is slow to trust but once she does she is a loyal friend. Taliza takes pleasure in nature and the rush of a good hunt. History: Taliza comes from a planet where humans and dragons coexist peacefully. The dragons do not accociate with humans because they believe them to be inferior and humans typically avoid dragons because they fear them. Taliza is still considered young by her fellow Dragons as her race can live to be up to 500 years old. She is a single dragonet (Child), as is common among her race, and is small for her kind. She is considered a brave dragoness, with beautiful arobatics, however she is not the strongest. Because of her size and veiws on humans she is looked down upon. Powers/Equipment: She has long claws on each foot, spikes all around the end of her tail, wings and the ability to breathe fire. Though she can't speak out loud, she has learned the language of humans and has learned to speak into the minds of several people at once. If she allows, a human can speak into her mind as well; however this privilage is reserved for her most trusted friends.
What's going to happen with the Orb transfer and the first world? Is it going to fall apart or something, or are we just going to slowly move towards a portal? My reasoning for the first: The original world had portals from infinite universes- once the orb moves away, there's only going to be gaps in space-time where the portals were- I'm thinking black holes, crumbling world, except for a large portal where the Orb was transferred. Does that sound alright with everyone here?
That's a good idea, but I think the world needs to stay in tact. You all need a little time to regroup and recover, also any abandoned characters in the current world would be permanently lost. Maybe I'm sentimental, but I'd also feel sad that gaining the Orb means the eventual destruction of your home world... I won't make finding the portal difficult or prolonged. Its pretty much right next to you all actually, but I'm waiting for some posts and in particular for the dragons to roll over before revealing it.
^Seemed to work just fine. I was a little unsure whether Taliza flew her way back to the ground or the gravity stream carried her there. Then I read more closely and decided it was irrelevant either way. Great post and thanks for joining in. I hope you have kept up on all the "Dragon" relevant information. I put in parts of my post specifically for the flying characters. I'm glad you took advantage of it.
Welcome aboard LtW! Your post was great, you are the first Orb seeker on Theta Prime! There will be others to join you soon, till then I'm not sure where you are in relation to Pyree, but I bet she will be surprised when she sees a dragon in her world! @Galeskies, what do yo mean by Dragon relevant info?
So for people who are still on Magnalian's world, are we supposed to take the time to wrap things up and/or search for portals to Theta Prime? Or do make it similar to chapter one, where our first post has our character jumping straight into a portal? Immediate portal-ing might leave some loose ends, while lingering around a bit might be confusing/unwelcoming to newcomers. So... which one is preferred?
I prefer lingering, but lets keep it to 1-3 posts max. It would be disjointed to have your characters immediately pass through another portal. Besides there will be only one portal, and your characters don't specifically know that the Orb passed to a new world. I'll show you where the portal is in the my next post, but I was hoping for someone in the old world to post before I post again...
Doesn't Eslana have a sword that can draw power from other Dragons? When Eslana used it a mind link was formed between her and Magnafire Drake or something if I remember. By relevant I guess I was referring to Post #26 (page two discussion thread) and Post #52 & #53 (page three) It wouldn't be in either of their character BIOs, and it's good information to have if you eventually interact with either character. Edit: Ahh, Eslana's new Bio does mention it. Whoops.
Good point, I think it was Riley that her sword effected. All I remembered was Riley's connection with Dragon's but Back-biter has been gone a while now, But Elsana is definitely still in play, and that may be an important detail to remember. Thanks.
Name: Marcus schroedinger Age: 203 1/2 Gender: male Appearance: Marcus has short brown hair and all yellow eyes. He stands at 6"5 with a muscular body. Despite his age and body he has a youthful look, not looking older than 21. Over each of his eyes he has a vertical scar. History: Marcus is the son of Joseph schroedinger (son of Erwin schroedinger) who through quantum experimenting became a real schroedingers cat. He was alive and dead simultaneously and everywhere and nowhere at once. Marcus was unaware of these abilities until he joined the legion of the undieing as a soldier. His latent powers manifested when he was killed turning him into a quantum anomaly. Powers/Equipment: Unlike his father Marcus cannot be everywhere at once so far only managing to be in 3 places at once. He also carries a shotgun affected with his powers essentialy giving it infinite ammo (and a tendency to not fire) and a dagger. He posses a limited quantum manipulation ability but this exhausts him quickly.
I left Taliza's postion open for interpetation. I was going to write that she saw Pyree but I didn't want to step on her shoes, since it sounded like she was about to go somewhere.
I hope I'm not offending you LTW (love to write) when I say this, but can you take out the brackets? The first one just replace with something like: The tiny humans, who's older kin referred to them as children, often asked... Second one just get rid of, it can be assumed your talking about the world. I have something else to add, but I already feel bad sorry.
Katsu The Goddess Here's my, uh, real profile. The last one was really rushed. Age: Unknown Gender: Female Character Description: Her body is lithe and supple, or so it is said. Yet not one being in her world has seen her body, for it is covered with a full body robe with strange, purple symbols transcribed on it; symbols that are said to drive you mad if stared into for too long. No-one is sure why she never takes off her robe, but it is said on her exile she received a scar; one that travelled all across her back in the shape of a woman in chains. It is said that this scar not only makes her hideous, but limits her power. If she restores her power and breaks the curse, the scar will fade and leave her to the being she once was. You will also find, as her friends have said, that she has the symbol for True Form transcribed on her hand. It can only be assumed that this is a power she has hidden, for use in times of strife. Personality: She is a silent type, only choosing to talk when necessary. Once she showed her feelings and had a fiery nature, but those were the days before her love died. Now she remains hidden in the shadows, never revealing herself until times of strife. Though it takes a long time to gain her trust, there is no-one who values loyalty more than her. History: Nothing is known about her history, except that she came from the Gods. Yet her existence in their kingdom was limited, for they feared her power. One day, through the desperate screams of her mother, she was dragged to The King. No-one knows what transpired in that room, only that she came back with her robe covering her and an order of exile. From then on, she was forced to walk the paths of mortals for all eternity. Though most people would despair in her state, she did not. Instead she chose to do what she could for humanity, protecting them in times of strife. Feeding the poor, helping the weak. It is said that if you ever need help in a time of strife, call on The Goddess and she will come. Yet she has not forgiven the realm of her birth for her exile, she swore an oath to come back to the one day with her power restored. Though many consider it to be for revenge, the few friends she has made through these past millenniums know better. She simply wants to prove that unlike the King, she can control her power. She wishes to prove that she is better than the race that discriminated against her; she wishes to prove to her father, The King, that she is better than the man who birthed her. It is because of all this, that she detests any misuse of power; whether it be good or evil. Equipment/pets/friends/you get the idea: Her robe has susceptive properties, bringing you into a trance that slowly drives you mad if you look at the symbols. She has a fairy named Moxy, as wise and old as her and the only ally she has ever gained that is Immortal. She has undying loyalty to Katsu, and cannot be swayed by anything to do something that would harm or hinder Katsu. She has a symbol on her arm that transforms her into her true form. No-one knows what that form is, for there has been no survivor’s once it’s unlashed; enemy or not. Powers: She has Shadow Transmutation. It’s an ability that lets her form something from her imagination through Shadows. She has Leech Tendrils. This ability sends out tendrils of Shadows that leech the life out of whatever they take hold of. They can never go above or below ground though. She has Shadow Barrier. It’s an automatic power, a barrier of shadows comes up at the point of attack; preventing anything from getting through. She has another mysterious ability. One she has only used once, and there was no tale to tell.
Bumping into Pyree wouldn't be a bad idea. It might give your character a frame of reference for later encounters. Although, I recommend to all of you that your characters learn the intricacies of this world first before you try to take on Pyree in her home turf. Otherwise the curve-balls you'll receive may send you spinning. MUAHAhahahahaha! & Brackets? Are you talking about LTW's character template?
