Glenny continues to look out the door to see Noah violently shaking the knob to get into one of the doors. Then, a few of the other patients he recognized from the day of the shooting walked past him to the card table. "Now you're in for it. It's that crazy guy who almost burned the place down." "Ramses, why are you still here?" Glenny takes a last glance out the door and figured that Noah would get the help he needed, at least if all went well. He decides to go against Ramses' orders and approach the card table, where he recognized Gregor and Skye an Chaos, and another woman he didn't think he'd seen before. "Glen.." He tried to ignore him, and went to the table.
"Glenny!," said Gregor, "It's so good to see you. Still giving the nurses' their daily workouts? Klesps is glad to see you as well. You might want to hold your breath, I'm afraid he over did it with the after shave. I am not talking behind your back Klesps. You stink. S - T - I - N - K, stink."
"No," Glenny laughed at Gregor's humor, but took a slight look behind him just to be safe. "Haven't seen her all day, just some guy asking for a urine sample." He walked over by Klesps to take a wiff. He couldn't honestly say the smell bothered him. "So," he asked "How're the shot wounds?"
Gregor looked down at his bandaged leg, as if noticing it for the first time. "I am in the best of care. Klesps, himself, has freed his schedule to look after me. I'll be fine in no time at all. Did I hear right Glenny? Klesps just said you had a visitor."
Chaos sat at the card table, keeping a close eye on Gregor. He knew that Gregor was completely insane but he is also probably the most dangerous patient in the asylum. Chaos turns to look at the empty seat and says, "Dr. Klesps, you really should lay off the aftershave. Remember you only need a little dab of it." Chaos felt weird talking to an empty chair, but he knew he had to stay on Gregor's good side. He thought to himself "Like the old saying goes, keep you friends close and you enemies closer."
Gregor chuckledat Glenny. "I told Klesps he was mistaken. He swore you were talking to his cousin Johanne Amadeus Mozart Klesps. You see I told you JAM wasn't here."
Mortimer looked up as the door swung open. There was that man again, the evil one. Mortimer didn't like him to much. "What the f*** did you say?" growled Mortimer. Noah looked wide-eyed at him, "I said I needed help..." he mumbled. Mortimer grinned wide-toothed at him, "Really?" he purred, "I as your savior shall show you the wrongs of your ways. Perhaps you will be saved from my vengeance," he giggled, "Now watch this you piece of sh*t." Mortimer dashed out, shoving Noah into his cell and slammed the door closed. Laughing uncontrollably Mortimer flipped him off, saying, "Stay in there you little f***. Can't trust whether or not you'll try and do me from behind." He charged toward the several orderlies who were running toward Noah. He stopped and looked at all of them, "What the hell are y'all waiting for? Stupid pigs, God will never forgive you. Repent! Repent mother f***ers!" He turned on his heels and ran down the hall. Instantly the orderlies gathered their senses and sprinted after him. Mortimer grabbed a small desk and hurled it back, hitting one in the face and knocking him clean out. "F***ing fatsos! You need a good work out!" He randomly turned on his heels again and lunged on to another orderly. He literally bit into his jugular vein like an animal, causing it to spurt blood. Another orderly came up to him and he tackled their legs. Jumping on to them he pressed his thumbs into their eyes, drawing blood. "Bleed you f***ing satanic pig! Give me your life stream you sh*t!" Suddenly an orderly jumped on him, knocking Mortimer to the ground. Mortimer punched this orderly in the stomach, shoved him off, and continued running down the hallway. He was having the time of his life.
Seeing Niel caused Ambriel to want to duck and hide...she was afraid he could look at her and see her "secret"...she truly felt for him and it mattered w,hat he thought about her. If only he could know that her actions were not a complete reflection of who she was. "I hope you are starting to feel better." Niel said. "I am fine." She smiled as she walked past him..."Care to join us Niel...Chaos? Ambriel watched with amazement, Gregor's popularity with the other patients....it was interesting to her, how they seemed to grasp his hospitality when they couldn't tolerate on e word from the staff. She also, noticed the way Gregor felt ownership of his territory. He reminded her of a Godfather...only less sane than his contemporaries. It was one of those things which could never be fully explained. Gregor was graceful and well educated, his demeanor must have been quite impressive when he was younger.
"That's fine anyway. What I need was your cell, not you, d*ckhead." Noah grumbled under his breath. He went over to one of the corners of the room and curled there. He needed time, he needed peace, he needed to think. "I'm not sick..."
Chaos looked at Gregor and said "Whos Mortimer, I don't think that I've meet him yet." Chaos could hear that there was a disturbance in the corridor. He could sense that something bad was happening.
Gregor painfully raised himself up, shrugged off the offers of help, and hobbled over to Glenny. "Go to Charlie the orderly. Tell him I said to give you the cell phone. If he gives you any trouble, tell him I asked 'How's business doing?' Handel sighed. "Yes Klesps, I'll sit back down. Umm ... where did you get that mouthwash Klesps? No .. I don't mind and yea i think the ladies would appreciate it. I'm just wondering what took you so long. I mean those cigars you always smoke don't exactly make your breath a treat. Oh now don't sulk. I'm sorry, I'm sure there are many women who just love your breath."
"Oh, got it." Glenny laughed at Gregor's comment about JAM. He wondered too about the person in the hall.
Mortimer ran down the hall, hitting all the nurses and patients that came in his way. The smell of blood on his hands became intoxicating as he tore his way through the hospital. He laughed in pure ecstasy. "This is your punishment foul sinners! Feel my f***ing hands!" He punched a nurse in the face, knocking out a tooth, "And feel the pain of the weak!" He kicked an orderly in the groin. Suddenly he felt a stinging sensation in his shoulder. He wheeled around to see several men with tranquilizer guns pointed at him. "What the f*** you gonna do, pigs?" Five more needles entered his chest, "Jesus Mortimer, that sh*t isn't too friendly," he stumbled, three more hit his body, "That is f***ing downright abusive," his speech became slurred, more in his chest, "Aw sh-" he collapsed into a black world of unconsciousness...
Chaos stands up and says "I think I am going to call it a night. I'll see you guys tomorrow." He looks down at Ambriel and asks "Can I get a hug before going to bed." "Okay." says Ambriel. When they hug Chaos pulls her in tightly and whispers into her ear "Never, ever let your guard down around Gregor." Chaos lets go of her and leaves the playroom. While walking back to his room, his eyes change from dark to light. As Niel enters his room, he thinks to himself "I hope our warning was enough to keep her safe for the time being."
Olena woke up in her room, but she wasn't on the bed, she was on the floor. Her head hurt, and she didn't remember anything since the caffeteria. Her stomach hurt - she wanted to eat, but she didn't want to leave her room. She rumaged under her bed and took a granola bar from the box her parents had brought her on their last visit. As she chewed, she walked around the room. There were numbers on the walls - but they weren't written with a marker, but with a key or another sharp object. There was something so strange about them - even though they were scratched into the walls, they were far from manic. She figured someone must've come into her room - an OCD patient with a thing for numbers. But that patient must come in there a lot, because this wasn't the first instance . . .
I had finished my work and technically, my duties here. However, I had a lot more to do. "Ma'am, we had a bad situation today with Mr. Haze." A nurse had intercepted me as I packed my office. I put my things back on the table, allowing her to continue. "His mother came but he refused to recognize her. Then, he became violent. We have held him for a short while, but I'm afraid it will be difficult to handle him without a session with you." I nodded, and walked to the playroom. He was standing outside the Cafe rather than the playroom, perhaps walking out from Mortimer's room. Which reminded me... "And what about Mortimer?" "We've strapped him down for now. He's in the electric room." I sighed. The poor man. "Keep him that way for now, but don't let any orderly get to him. Only doctors. And please, don't pass any medication down to him unless I have a talk with him." We were in front of Noah now. He looked up at me and spoke in a weak voice: "Mom?"
"Mom?" Noah spoke weakly. "M-mom..." he felt tired and exhausted. A couple of orderlies and a doctor had come to get him out of Mortimer's room. He'd gotten violent, throwing his pills at them and reaching for whatever he could grab and use as a weapon. He was restrained and given a tranquilizer shot. He'd relaxed but it had made him groggy and disoriented, but not violent anymore. Noah took a step towards the person he recognized as his mother, an orderly grabbed his arm, preventing him from getting any closer than a couple of steps.
"It's alright." I ordered, and the orderly let go. "Please leave us alone." "But ma'am..." "Please." The orderlies abandoned us, and I helped Noah's hand into mine. "Is there something you want to ask, or talk about? I'm right here for it, okay?"
"Mom, I..." Noah's voices cracked, a tear beginning to run down his cheek. He raised a hand to cover his eyes, while a choked sound escaped his throat. "There was...this lady...she said she was my mom.....but that's not true right? A-and...my pills.....they aren't working anymore. They told me to take them when I felt bad, but I take a lot of them and I keep feeling bad. I can't help it. I'm....I'm going crazy......but...but I'm not sick, right? I'm okay...."
I looked grievingly at Noah, who was in between a bad situation. I felt his pain - the kind of pain I felt when I first had schizophrenia. I tried to remember what the doctor said, but in vain. "Noah, I know this is hard for you. Things simply refuse to make sense and it sometime seems you don't know what and whom to trust. First things first, you can always trust me, okay?" I then walked him out of the corridor, and slowly towards his room. Slowly. "Show me your pills bottle first." The nurse had told me he was taking too many pills, and that was something I feared.
