Interrupted by the sound of Francine's voice, Ambriel turned with a jump. "Oh...Fran, you scared me?" She was wondering how this whole thing was going to turn out. "Uhmmm..Francine how have you been..because I think you have got a good bit on that plate of yours...and you wanna knnow something?" She let her think for a second and continued. "I am not the only one....I have been given a message to pass on to you from Neil." Ambriel could see th esurprise in Fran's face. "Unless you want him to spread the word concerning...well, "you know what" ...you will go visit with him and give ear to what he has to say." Francine fidgeted with her collar...Ambriel was sure she knew Niel meant what he said. "Fran...I think I would go listen to him." Ambriel stood up and left her room, leaving Francine to consider Niel's proposition.
Francine stared at the floor silently for a brief moment. Her heart thudded against her chest as she considered all odds. The amusing part of the story was how two mentally unstable people had successfully managed to blackmail her. She turned out of the room, and nervously walked to Niel's room. As much as she wanted to believe that no one would listen to a paranoid, that much she knew that doctors might give an ear to her because her disease specifications do not imply her passing completely impossible knowledge. She knocked Niel's door, speaking lowly: "Dr. Francine here."
"Come on in doc." says Chaos. Dr. Francine opens the door and looks at Niel. "Shut the door behind you, I'm pretty sure you don't want other people to hear this conversation. Oh, and by the way, you're not speaking to Niel. I'm Chaos, I'm sure you've read about me in Niel's medical history file, or perhaps you heard about me from that fat orderly Kyle." says Chaos, while displaying a rather twisted smile.
Francine quivered as she shut the door. As a doctor, she should be treating Niel, not talking his alter ego. Despite the conscious guilty feeling, she stood straight her arms folded. "What do you want from me? Haven't I seen enough of this mental hospital junk?" Her voice was fragile and subjugated.
As John walked down the hall, he heard a familiar voice. "Yes Klesps, I guess this was going to happen sooner or later." Gregor leaned against the wall and nodded.
As Chaos sees her quivere He laughs. He stares at the doctor with his near black eyes and wicked smile, "There is something important that that detective is investigating, otherwise the military wouldn't have gotten involved, and if you want that little secret of your's to stay secret, you're going to tell me what it is."
John sighed and then stopped at a fair distance from Gregor. "Hello. How are you today? Sorry about the shot, you know. Must've been bad." He remarked, and then neared to him. "Does it still hurt?" He cynically spoke, poking at the bruised leg.
I hit my head on the wall, really frustrated. Why, why was I head of department? Why was I going through this irrational stuff? For once, I like John better than these interrogations. "That is simply none of our concerns. I'm a doctor, not a government official. My job description is limited to serving my patients, nothing else."
While Niel had Francine occupied, Ambriel ran into her office with one purpose, find out as much as she could concerning the military and how it was tied to John and Gregor. "Okay, Niel, I hope you appreciate my efforts." Ambiel grabbed up several files and began to read the files one by one...there was so much to read she hoped that she could discover the truth. One page was much interest, it simply read..."Unexplained blood type...unknown species...project terminated." Ambriel put her hand to her lips and said..."What the hell, is going on here?"
"Don't play stupid with me doc." says Chaos, "I can guess that you have been doing your best to protect us from that psycho, and I appreciate the effort but I really don't like being kept in the dark." Chaos'es voice took on a harsh tone, "You are going to tell me what I want to know."
"Oh you know me, I heal quickly. So Calipto why are you here?" "Oh, me? The usual. To serve you, to serve women and of course, election campaigns. You have missed a lot of hype while here in this place. Too bad, I'll get into the ogvernment once again while you'll play 'Gregor and Klesps' in this madhouse." He spoke mockingly, and then looked over to the reception. "Or do you have different plans, Belleth?"
I looked away, and then started to think of an excuse. Wait, I didn't need an excuse. After all, no one would believe in alien abduction, like Gregor. "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me." I stopped, waiting to gain his attention. "John is here because the police suspects aliens are lurking in our ward."
"It seems we've been down this road before. I eliminated a threat here. In time, I'll move on. I seem to remember your type of government. It always ends up with a lot of screaming and blood. Seriously, what's you angle? WHy here? You don't give a damn about these people ... unless there's something here I missed?"
After several files has been exhausted, Ambriel had enough information to go to Niel with...The fact the Gregor had no identity didn't help. Still, there were a few things he might find of interest. But the time to disclose would have to come later, right now she was on her own mission. She needed to find Skye and check on how she was doing.
The room too wasn't bustling and light, like it would usually be when the patients would sit around. There were some, but nowhere near as many. Calmly, he walked into the room. A nurse was sitting in a corner that he hadn't noticed, and she gave him a warm smile. He quickly smiled back. It made him angry then, that she seemed to be watching him. Glenny glanced back at her several times, and she didn't seem to want to look away anytime very quickly. He patted at the top of his jeans impatiently, and decided to act as innocently as possible. He took a seat on the floor where a bunch of stuffed animals and toys were lying around, and smiled again. Looking at the stuff through the corner of his eye, he took one, and checked it to see if it was valid.
"It seems we've been down this road before. I eliminated a threat here. In time, I'll move on. I seem to remember your type of government. It always ends up with a lot of screaming and blood. Seriously, what's you angle? WHy here? You don't give a damn about these people ... unless there's something here I missed?" John chuckled, and then reached for his pocket. "I'm beginning to change, Belleth. For instance, I had decided to dedicate myself to the people alone. No naughty things. And women - where that comes, you know how much I respected my wife. Now, I've picked a new girl. What do you think of Francine?" He then winked, acting sardonic. "I hope you don't have a crush on her, unlike Maste. Because if that happens, then you're one unlucky man."
Gregor shook his head. "Still the same trying to bait me. Didn't you learn after our last ... encounter ... how unwise that can be?" Gregor looked back toward sthe enpty hallway. "Yes Klesps, you're right. Listen John, these people have nothing to do with us. There's no reason for you to be here. You're playing some kind of game and neither Klesps nor I like it. My ... appearence ... prevented a number of murders. What will your appearence prevent?"
Chaos decided that he has given Ambriel enough time, he looks at the doctor and smiles, "Just think over what I said. Now if you'll excuse I'm going to get some rest. Do make sure to shut the door on your way out." says Chaos as he rolls onto his side and tries to go to sleep.
"Still the same trying to bait me. Didn't you learn after our last ... encounter ... how unwise that can be?" Gregor looked back towards the empty hallway. "Yes Klesps, you're right. Listen John, these people have nothing to do with us. There's no reason for you to be here. You're playing some kind of game and neither Klesps nor I like it. My ... appearance ... prevented a number of murders. What will your appearance prevent?" "They have a lot to do with this." John grinned, and then looked directly into Gregor's eyes. "They were born. And any living creature which threatens me, threatens himself." He then finished eloquently: "I'll be gone in a short period. Of course, not without the doctor and you, Gregor. Which reminds me - you should be in the playroom with your cards."
Gregor took a step towards John. "That would be a very foolish thing to try. I'd disappear now before things get ugly."
Smoke was scarping John’s nose all of the sudden. He flinched and turned, seeing fire from not so far. Nurses were screaming while patients ran out of the grasp of the fire. Gregor’s room was the next to catch, being next to the store room. “Oh no!” He screamed, running towards the storeroom. Francine, who had just left Niel’s room, smelt the smoke and ran to the store room, her jaw dropping down as she saw the overwhelming fire. John stopped as the stench of burning urine and other samples filled his nostrils. He grabbed Gregor by the collar and retorted: “If you had something to do with this, I won’t bother even wait.” He then marched towards Francine pulling her away. “Call the fire rescue, now! And stay away from the fire!” “But John, the patients!” “Forget them. We need to be safe!” The fire kept grasping whatever came its way, and so, Gregor’s and Glenny’s rooms were burnt to ashes. The fire rescue arrived – yes, but it was too late for many. “Now, do you believe me, Francine?” John pestered Francine who sat in her office, looking at the number of fatalities the staff had experienced. The fire had been extinguished, but not the scars of loss. “I believe you.” Francine’s thoughts darted from patient to patient. Who was the culprit?
Gregor stared at the burned out rooms. "Yes Gregor it was Calipto. Either him, or someone working for him. Huh? No I don't think anyone would believe me." The "doctor" chuckled. "No my old friend, I don't think they'd believe you either. Well at least your aftershave was in the room. Oh! I meant I'm sorry your aftershave was in the room. Seriously Klesps, that's exactly what I meant. I know, but people will still suspect us. No, I don't think they'll realize I would never destroy my own room. Cal is cunning."
Skye was relieved when Jason left to see what the ruckus was about. The fire alarm still rung in her ears, and the burning smell filled the building. She didn’t care what it was this time, as long as none of her friends had been hurt. She looked at the neatly piled blocks, by size and color. She wanted to make her castle, but for once she didn’t feel like it. She didn’t want to deal with making it perfect. She was tired of perfection. Her eye gave a twitch. “Oral enthusiast!” she screamed. She quickly threw the towers of blocks into the box. She lifted the box up, and walked from the playroom. She needed to find her friends, and she had to finish her adventure.
Niel woke up to the smell of smoke. "What's going on." says Niel to himself. "Probably another one of Gregors schemes." says Chaos, "Give me control, I want to check out the situation." Niel's eyes grew dark as he walked out into the hallways. He sees smoke and it looked like it was coming from the storage room. Chaos can hear Niel say, "I hope everyone is ok."
