Out of Their Minds

While limping around the Asylum, Niel comes across Vira and Glenny. "Hey guys, what are you two up to." says Niel.

 

Skye didn’t know what to think as she left. She looked up at Gregor, her eyes wide. She looked back at the pad in his hand.

“Do you recognize that name?” she asked. Her eye gave a violent twitch.

 

Gregor looked at the paper and then held it over his shoulder for Klesps to see. The both nodded. "I know the name. She's John's daughter. Where did that paper come from?"

 

Skye looked at her stumps. Did it somehow make sense?

“In my bloodied gown…” she said, “I had it in my pouch when I get hurt.” She looked at him, and then at Klesps. Her eyes were full of anger. Could this had been John’s fault? She couldn’t be sure, but where had the pad come from.

“It looks like it was written by a little one… but I can’t remember being around any little ones. Do you think this little girl has anything to do with what happened to me?”

 

Gregor stared silently. Should he tell her? Would it make a difference? Did any of it matter?

She deserves to know the truth, said Klesps. The voice was somehow inside of Gregor's head.

Not all of it. She has had enough trauma for one day, thought Gregor.

Handel kneeled down so he was face to face with Skye. "I'm sure Everic would never want you to be hurt."

Too much Belleth, said Klesps.

Do you want to finish this conversation? Gregor's thoughts echoed inside his own head.

Klesps was silent for a moment. Just be careful, she's suffered enough already.

Gregor focused again on Skye. "I can tell you this much, whatever made you forget is probably connected to your ... loss."

 

Skye looked up at Gregor, confusion in her eyes. She could tell he knew more then he was saying, and she wanted to get it out of him.

“You knew Everic then?” she bit her lip, “Please, tell me anything you may know? I don’t exactly think I did anything to deserve this, but maybe I deserve to know why it did happen.”

Her eye gave a violent twitch, as she sadly looked at her leg. She looked up at the vents. She knew there was very little chance she’d have anymore adventures.

 

Niel walked in and started to make small talk. Glenny didn't answer.
"Okay, then, I understand." she said, and then looked up at Niel.
"Hello, there," she answered pleasantly.

 

I told you! Klesps' voice boomed from between Gregor's eyes. Now what are you going to say? I'm sorry Skye, two aliens sawed off your limbs. But don't worry I killed them both and burned their bodies?

Gregor sighed. "I hate when you get like this Klesps." He stiffled the shock of hearing his own voice. He hadn't meant to say that out loud. "Skye you befriended John's daughter and he punished you for it."

 

Niel looks at the girl and says, "So, Vira, have you managed to find out why we lost our memory of saturday morning?"

 

She grabbed the pad from his hands, looking at the drawing. Why couldn’t she remember it, if it had really happened? Her eyes instantly turned angry, as she slipped it back into her pouch. It wasn’t fair. If she had only made friends with the little Everic, what made it right to punish her? Had she hurt the little girl? It didn’t seem likely, she loved children.

She looked up at him, “You remember? Why can’t we remember? Did I hurt her? I wasn’t rotten to her was I? Or was it the other way around?”

Her eye gave a violent twitch, as her stubbed arm flew forward. She yelled out in pain as it hit her handle bar. She grimaced, and rubbed it gently.

 

"So, Vira, have you managed to find out why we lost our memory of saturday morning?"
"Vira?" She asked, a look of pure concern of her now fragile face.

 

Klesps was silent but Gregor could feel his friend's hatred of John scratching at the back of his skull. "You didn't do anything wrong. You were nothing but a lovely friend to her."

 

"Oh, sorry.." Glenny said, coming to his senses. He turned to see Niel, he hadn't noticed him in the room, nor had he talked to him for a while, at least for all he could remember.

"Hello, Niel."

 

Niel looks at the girl wondering why she didn't know the name she gave him earlier. "Earlier today when we were dealing with Mortimer, you told me your name was Vira. What's the matter, did you lose more of your memory." says Niel.

 

Olena's eyes filled with tears, for some rediculous reason, but she kept them from spilling over.
"I . . . I do my best to stay away from Mortimer," she choked out. "My name is Olena Airye."

 

Skye looked back up with a half-smile. He had gone around her first few questions. Why was it her remembered? She knew the answer in the back of her head. She knew, but she also knew it would stay there. She wouldn’t let anyone hurt Gregor or Klesps.

The throbbing of her limbs was slowly coming back as she fumbled through her thoughts.

“Maybe we should go back to the playroom, Jason’s probably worried about me.” She thought of Jason, they had become enemies, and friends in such a short time. It was wonderous what pity did to two persons.

“Thanks you two.” She muttered, “For giving me answers.” Her eye gave a violent twitch. Her arm thrust forward, painfully hitting the handle.

“Oral enthusiast!” she bellowed. She grabbed her stump as it painfully throbbed. A tear escaped her eyes. She cursed under her breath. She wanted this to end all ready.

 

Gregor nodded sadly and wheeled her back into the playroom.

 

Glenny watched as Olena's eyes filled with tears. In confusion, he asked,

"What's going on?"

 

Skye stayed silent as they headed back towards the playroom. She had much on her mind, though the pain clouded even those thoughts. Her body started to throb painfully as the medications completely wore off. She wanted nothing more then to lay down, but she was going to fight that feeling. They entered the playroom, as he pushed her to the card table. She looked back over at Jason, who gave her a smile.

“Jason, do I have long until I can have more painkillers?”

He looked at her and gave a nod.

“Quite a bit of time.” He said with a frown, “Are you in pain Miss Skye?” she shook her head, and gave him a weak smile.

“No, of course not.” She lied. She looked over at Olena, Neil and Glenny. She gave them a weak smile as she lay her head on the table. She grabbed the blocks, as they helped push them towards her. She placed them in the box. She closed her eyes as she tried to relax her body.

 

Niel looks at the girl and says "By chance do you have gaps of time you can't remember, or have strange things happened to your stuff." He thinks he knows why she doesn't remember what happened earlier.

 

"I'm starting to figure it out myself. I think I have split-personalities, and I think one of them's trying to tell me."

 

Neil smiles and says "You know, its ok to have more than one personality. Chaos and I share this body. You just need to learn how to communicate with the other people in your body."

He notices Belleth wheeling Skye into the room. "Um....hi Skye, how are you doing? If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your arm and leg?" says Niel.

 

Olena let her head drop to the table in frustration and dissapointment. Why'd he ask that? She couldn't undo it though, so she just let Skye answer what she would.

 

She lifted up her head slowly, as she looked at Neil with tired, drained eyes.

“You know how it is, when you misbehave.” She said with a half-grin. She looked back at Olena giving her a gentle wave.

“I don’t remember…” she said. She didn’t think she would let out the information Gregor had given her. She didn’t think it was something he’d want her to share.

She lifted herself up, letting her back hit the back of the wheelchair. She looked at Olena.

“Can we go hang out in your room?” she asked. She knew it was still early, but she wanted to rest. She grabbed the box of blocks, putting them in her lap.

 

Olena smiled.
"Sure," she said, getting up and heading over to Skye's wheelchair.
"I'll see 'yall later, okay?" she waved goodbye to Glenny and Niel, and headed down the hall.
