Gregor stirred and looked over his body almost surprised to see he still looked human. "The beast is inside me. I came to Earth and needed to hide from Calipto. I stumbled on a human ... a man named Gregor. He was killing you kind. I ... absorbed him. It gave me the knowledge I needed about thids world. Unfortunately, that meant I couldn't kill him. That thing that went after Brenda was the beast I was talking about. A mix of me and the serial killer I absorbed. You deserved to know this before we go. i can control him a bit if you need. Now Chaos, you still want an upgrade?"
Vira nodded. She wished she wasn't hearing this - she wished it were air instead. For once in her life, she would admit she was afraid. "Are we to destroy the beast, Belleth? And how so, if we are?" she asked, trying to sound fearless and mature, but as she finished, she could hear her voice crack and scolded herself for it.
"So that how you came up with the name Gregor. We should probably make sure we're ready for whatever Calipto's back up plan is. As for that upgrade I think I have enough strength to deal with whatever is going to happen, but being able to move faster, and having quicker reflexes would come in handy." says Chaos.
Belleth stretched out his hand. Black ooze bubbled from the fingertips and spread up his arm. The ooze slid beneath Chaos's skin. Chaos' skin began to crawl as everything in the room began to slow down. The alien smiled. "You will be as fast as Calipto now. It may last forever, it may last hours. I am still too weak to be as percise as I want to. Now help me up please."
Skye slid the satchel back over her shoulder after she had made sure everything was there. She ran back towards Neil’s room, her steps jittery and nervous. Upon entering she noticed Olena. She quickly flung her arms over her neck, giving her a big hug. “Look what Francine got me.” She whispered as she pulled away. No one took notice as she slid the gun into her sweater. She flaunted her new leg and arm, with a smile on her face. She looked back at Gregor, the excitement leaving as she remembered the gravidy of the situation. She ran at him, her arms wrapped around his neck. She thrust upon his forehead many frantic kisses. “You’re all right!” she exclaimed as she backed away from him.
She stood there with her mouth wide open, and then smiled, watching the little girl smother Belleth with kisses. She felt the weight in her pocket, and placed her hand over it to come to understand that it was a gun. "I'm so glad." She said, to both Skye's comments.
Chaos watches as his body changes. His muscles didn't get any bigger, but they felt like they were tight, and ready to spring at a seconds notice. "Interesting" thinks Chaos. He hears Niel in the back of his head "Was that really needed. I don't like changes being made to our body. At the very least you should have asked me before letting him do that." Chaos thinks "Our lives are on the line, we need every advantage we can get." Just then Skye comes running in the room, and kisses Belleth. After she's done, Chaos walks over and puts Belleth's arm around his shoulder. He lifts up Belleth to his feet, letting Belleth lean against him. "So, why are you keeping you disguise? You'll probably get your energy back quicker if you weren't keeping you body in a human shape." says Chaos.
Belleth smiled. "True, but I think people might notice a five foot pile of oily sludge following you. Chaos if we are going to win it'll be up to you and Skye." The alien stood up. I guess we better get going.
Brenda walked in the corridor. She smiled - everyone was ready. "Good, you're all ready. Let's go." She pointed to the hallway on the right, and they started running. "We're flying to NJ on a jet. Should be there in much less than an hour. No bathroom breaks. And also, keep yourselves guarded. Inexperienced individuals, do NOT attempt to be smart." She instructed as they ran to the car in which they were to ride. From there, they rode to the nearest playground, where after a waiting of two minutes, a jet descended. "Morning Agent Danielle. How many?" She looked behind. "Four, one injured and one minor." "Taken Danielle. Board." She hurriedly picked up Skye and handed her to the assistant. She then gestured Chaos and Vira to help themselves, along with gregor. "Hurry - we have no time!"
Skye was lifted by Brenda to another woman. She sat on the woman’s lap, looking up at her with uncertain eyes. The woman didn’t seem to take much notice, as if Skye didn’t really exist. Her thumb gently brushed on the knife attached to her hand, the coolness of the blade feeling nice of her warm body. She didn’t know if it was the fear that made her feel feverish, she didn’t much care. She looked over at the others as the plane began to take off. Her eyes met Brenda, she wasn’t the same person she remembered her to be anymore. She struggled from the woman’s grip, jumping onto Brenda’s instead. Her arms linked around her chest, as she nuzzled in. “What will happen if we survive this Miss Brenda? Will I stay in the asylum?” she looked up at her friend with wide eyes.
Brenda smiled and then kissed Skye's forehead. Despite their clashes, she was always fond of the girl. "If you like, you can leave the hospital or stay there. It depends on where you want to go." She then thought over it; for some reason, these insane people weren't that bad after all. They were in fact, better than the 'sane' ones in many ways. For instance, they had a heart. And a heart was enough proof of man's sanity.
Skye looked down, playing with her hands. Out of the asylum, that sounded better then anything she had heard of. She knew she had nowhere to go though, that was always her problem. She was a burden to others, and no one really accepted her. She lay her head down on Brenda’s chest, she could feel the tears coming down all ready. She was condemned to be alone. She didn’t think Gregor would stay, and she knew she would rather die then stay in that hospital. She couldn’t very well go out on her own, she couldn’t get a job, she was too young to take care of herself. “But, I have no where to go…” she mumbled.
Brenda frowned and looked at Skye. She regretted admitting it, but Skye reminded her of Eden. Her graceful blond hair, and dry but natural blue eyes. Her childish smile and aggressive screams. Her memories somehow led to Skye's face. "I know this is spontaneous...but you look just like my daughter, Eden. She was very playful, and used to love water. I still remember braiding her hair early in the morning when she woke up with me for gardening." A tear occurred in Brenda's eyed and painful sting hit her heart. She really missed Eden.
Skye could feel her sadness sinking in, but tried to put it to the side as she looked at the sadness in Brenda’s eyes. Her hand touched Miss Brenda’s cheek. She knew what it felt like to lose someone you loved dearly. She could feel what Brenda felt, but it made no difference. Pain was sometime dealt with on your own. She put her hand down, fidgeting with her hands again. “Maybe, you can adopt me Miss Brenda.” She finally blurted out.
Brenda's eyes lit up, and she turned to Skye. The tear fell on Skye's cheeks, who smiled. "That...that would be a dream come true!" She hugged Skye, lifting her in her arms. "I know I've been acting bad all this time, but I'll make it up to you." Skye noticed Brenda's right arm worked. She looked worriedly at her, at which Brenda chuckled. "Was saving it for a good time. Like right now."
Skye gave a cheer, as she squeeze Brenda into a large hug. She was going to be a normal child, she was going to have a mother. She… was going to be happy. She looked at her arm, a pang of regret hitting her. She had shot her. They had been enemies for the longest time, yet…. Here there were. She snuggled into her new mother, and closed her eyes. She had a lot ahead of her, rest would be good. "I love you.." she mumbled before she fell into a quick sleep.
Brenda patted Skye, and settled down in her seat. There were always new chances, now opportunities. One just needed to be ready to embrace them when they came along. "Hate to break it to you, but we're about half an hour away from jackpot." The pilot yelled on the speaker phone, and Brenda replied: "Okay, but keep the volume low." She then whispered to her mates: "And get ready."
She smiled gently - she could feel Vira's tug, but she silently spoke to the soul. "Not now, fire. Another time, after this is over." She actually would rather not face it herself, but she was to only one to face it. After all, both Vira and Olena had just learned about her and one another, and she'd known about it all along - ever since the dream. Olena was two years old - her father was crying silently, she'd seen the tears on his tan skin, and her mother was saying things she didn't much understand. Things like "I'm sorry, Sal, but I may have to have you committed again." All Olena knew was that she was not going to be committed, because after that night, she didn't see her father again for two years. Three men in white coats had taken him away, and when they left, her mother began to sob. Meliisa had dried her eyes and come to tuck her daughter into bed, saying, "It's okay, love. Daddy will come back." Olena that night had a dream. She dreamed her name was fresh, and green, even if she didn't know what the name was. She dreamed she was a quick-thinking, observant, poet with perfect hearing; and when she woke up, she was.
As Chaos sat there he could here Niel say "Aww, I'm so happy for Skye." "Yeah I guess. But this means that there will be one less person at the asylum that we can trust." thinks Chaos.
Brenda placed her arms around Skye even tighter as the jet started to land. She ran her eyes around to see the dry but differently looking New Jersey. "Okay, it's this factory people. Basement. The rangers have opened a tunnel for us." As much as she wanted Skye to keep sleeping, she knew she had to be up. "Wake up dear...we're there."
Mortimer sat silently in his new cell in New Jersey. He was found to be criminally insane and a threat in the previous facility. Here, he never saw the light of day, slowly wasting away in his small cell. With his arms constrained by a straight jacket, Mortimer talked to himself quietly, not able to cause trouble. "F***ing Hell I'm bored. This place sucks ass..." Suddenly a vision appeared to him, sent by Gregor. He saw the others from the previous facility here in New Jersey, after some guy named Jerry. Mortimer strained his eyes to see it clearly, but he knew this was nothing to take lightly. This was his chance to redeem himself as the true Messiah. Mortimer stood up, and suddenly felt the sensation of melting through the floor. He found himself standing right in front of the group of others, with his straight-jacket off. His body felt healed, the bones no longer broken. He felt good as new. He smiled at them. "Well... how the f*** have you guys been?"
Skye woke up, her eyes fluttering open. She looked up at Brenda as she stretched out, falling from her lap unto the jet’s floor. She grabbed Brenda’s hand and ran from the plane. She stopped, seeing Mortimer appear in front of them. She grimaced at him, letting out a smile. They had backup. “Hi Mister Naughty.” She said cheerfully. She looked at the factory that lay in the background. She could see the tunnel that would get them into the building, and it filled her with fear. Would they all come out all right?
Glenny was sleeping in the playroom, his eyes closed, when he suddenly was subjected to a kind of out of body experience. Being asleep, he didn't know what it was, and soon he heard a loud thump, and a pain in his back, realizing he had dropped. He stood and rubbed his arm. "Hello?" he said, looking forward to see a small group of people. "Is this a dream?" he asked one who looked strikingly familiar.
Skye looked in awe as Glenny seemed to drop from nowhere. She ran to him, helping him up. She wrapped her arms around his waist, giving him a big hug. “I’m glad you’re here.” She whispered, “We’re about to go on another adventure.”
Glenny was completely dazed as someone spoke to him. He quickly recognized them as Skye. "It's been long." he said with a smile. "Another adventure, huh?"
