Glenny looked up in amazement as Skye struggled with the ventilation system. She asked him hastily if he was willing to come along. Thinking it over, he looked back at the door he was monitoring in an effort to keep closed.

"Glen, it's alright. We're only here to help you."

Glen rolled his eyes and stamped his foot in anger at his nurse's stubborness. He looked at Skye and back to the door, which was giving way. He looked back at Skye. His last chance to escape the nightmare of this obnoxious human. He looked back at the door one more time and let out a groan.

"I'm hep." he said giving no more thought to it, and kicking it for no reason. He wanted to yell something at his nurse, but thought better than to let her know he was making an escape.

He came to the table that Skye stood on and jumped on it next to her, making it shake.

"I'm not about to fall off this blasted table."

The chairs holding the door were almost losing their effect. They needed to get out of there before they were personally hanged by the staff. That was never any fun.

The table shook as they both balanced themselves on it. With Glenny’s help, he lifted her into the ventilation system. Glenny soon followed, knocking over the chair and table on his way up. There was no going back. Her eye gave a twitch as she started forward. She hoped the ventilation system wouldn’t go on forever.

Her heart raced as the walls touched her back. She felt confined, and trapped but she tried to brush the feeling away. Her hands shook as the dust touched her skin and clothing. She wanted to scream for help, but she knew she couldn’t do that. She continued forward, until she hit another grate. She could hear the yelling of the orderlies from downstairs, as the ventitlation system echoed. The noise added to her nervousness as she struggled to open the new grate. It fell with a clang, as she peered down. She looked down, and saw Gregor at his table. Her heart hammered as her body screamed to be let out.

She held on to the edge as she let herself fall to the ground. She cried out in pain as her ankles to the pressure of the jump. She held on to it as Glenny jumped down after her. She crawled until she pulled herself up on a cushioned chair near Gregor.

“Maybe you should make a run for it Glenny, you still have a chance to hide.” She said through her tears. Every movement hurt her ankle, sending sharp shots of pain through it. Her eye gave a twitch.

“I’ll f***ing kill you!” her voice bellowed through her tears.

"Well hello!" said Gregor who immediately passed her his cards. "Quick Klesps deal me a new hand. We've been playing, all three of us for nearly a half hour now."

"But they saw me," said Skye.

Gregor smiled. "There are at least 12 young ladies in this facilities, it was probably one of them. Oh, I hope you don't ming, but Klesps wants to sit next to you."

Glenny lay on the ground, eyeing his surroundings. The playroom - again. This was the second time today he'd encountered the place with a fall. He'd gone on a rollercoaster ride and ended right where he'd started.

"At least the looney's off your tail for the second."

He sat up, and looked around the play area, then shook his head to come to his senses. When he tried to get to his feet, his dizziness overtook him and he was forced to stay down for another moment, to muster up consciousness and try again.

He stood his hazy self up, flailing around a part of the room.

The card game was still under way. Skye had already cozied herself into the room it seemed, and he already felt the hostility. He wasn't welcomed here, looked like.

"Shut up. She just saved you from the nurse."

"Did not. She just thinks you're annoying."

    "And you're just insane."

Ramses smacked himself as Glenny bowed to those at the table,

    "Hello again Gregor, Klesps."

He looked out the door then, to see if someone was coming.

Gregor pushed a chair out. "Quick Glen sit down and grab some cards. We're playing poker, oh it doesn't matter. Just sit down and act calm."

Skye quickly brushed the dust from her shirt. The particles on her skin sent a shiver down her back. She hated dust. More then the spots on the wall. She looked at the cards in her hand, she had no idea how to play, but she could always guess. Her eye gave a twitch, sending the cards in her hands falling on the table, as her arm jolted with it. She quickly grabbed her cards, and looked over at Glen as the orderlies burst into the room.

"Not good!" Glenny said as he looked at his nurse. She grabbed him by the arm and tried to tug at him, and he tugged the opposite way.

"Out Glen! You've been very upsetting today!" she squawked at him.

    "Glen? How dare you!"

    "That's my name."

    "No it isn't."

"Shutup. Noone was talking to you."

    "She just said my name."

    "That's not your name."

Glenny looked around the room, first at the table with the cards, and then to the floor.

"Ramses, how did you get in here?"

The nurse growled in utter fury at his supposed foolishness, and pulled harder, with all her might, to get him out of the room.

He fell down, and tried to grab the floor as she started dragging him.

"Watch it! That's getting my nails!"

She looked over at orderly as he came her way. She quickly got up from her seat, and faked a trip as she fell onto Gregor. Her hand nonchalantly slipped the butter knife under his shirt just before she hit the ground with a thud. The orderly grabbed her by her shirt, lifting her up. She struggled and screamed.

“Let me go!” she screamed. One of the nurses quickly shot her in the arm. She didn’t stop fighting as they led her out of the room. Her eye gave a violent twitch.

“I’ll f***ing kill you!” her voice screamed. This time she meant it. Her body went limp as the drugs took effect.

Gregor cleared his throat. "If you'll excuse me Dr. Klesps, I shall be back in a few minutes. I need to stretch my legs. What? Well that's very nice of you, I'd enjoy the company."

I had barely given Michael the 9/11 and grabbed hold of Vira when complaints lodged from different parts of the hospital reached me. Glenny and Skye were rebelling, Gregor seemed suspicious in the whole scene and not to mention Mortimer was left to bleeding again. Most others had stayed out of trouble, of course - I meant nonviolent trouble.

    "Leave me alone!"
Vira screamed, and I had no choice but to grab her shoulders and slowly repeat, despite her belligerent screams:
    "You are Olena. Olena Airye."
This process usually worked, only when it didn't I'd use medication. Like all smart doctors, I avoided medication unless i had no choice. like for Michael. I couldn't take his babbling anymore. It would not help Vira.

Just as I got both of them escorted to their rooms, I remembered John's reminder. He was right. This breed of chaos occurred many times, but recently it had been intolerable. I sensed a danger soon, which would hinder my job. I speed-dialed Brenda who was still wary of me.
"I need you to get the urine sample of all the patients in this ward."
    'What?! Are you crazy, Francine?"
"Dr. Francine, please. I need their samples fast."
"This will take more staff than the usual."
"Then do an emergency meeting and arrange the part-time staff. I need their sample, Dr. Brenda."

The nurses were dragging Mortimer back to his cell, and he fought with all his might.
"Get your f***ing hands off me you pigs! You'll all burn in the fiery bowls of hell! " he cackled, "I need to talk to Dr. Francine! If not he'll f***ing kill me! You don't understand goddammit!"
He struggled as hard as he could, until he felt a needle jab into his leg.
"F***ing Jesus Mortimer... you always have to resort to that f***er, don't ya..." he said nodding off into a momentary sleep.

He looked around at the other patients wandering aimlessly around the lounge area. He knew they were thinking about him, wondering. It wasn't their business, he thought.

    "What gives?"

A raspy, chilling voice followed the first. "You would've killed them by now if you were still a man".

An aged voice, with an english accent chimed in. "Hes old. You've killed old people before haven't you chap?"

"You killed me....why did you kill me...." said a sorrowful, wailing voice that trailed off.

There was a chorus of voices sounding in Deric's mind. He held his temples and wished them away.

The raspy voice spoke again. "Look at your hands....it's the blood...".

He pulled his hands from his temple and viewed them. He was horrified to see his hands covered in blood. Boiling blood. The voice laughed sadistically, sending the hair's up on Deric's back.

"Oh don't worry yank, it's not yours. It's theirs. It's okay. Isn't it?"

The boils forming on his hands erupted, sending wasps forth into the air. The people around him continued walking around aimlessly as if they hadn't noticed. He wanted to scream for help, but his mouth wouldnt move, because he didn't have a mouth.

He sent screams in his mind back toward his tormenting voices.

"I don't want to be here anymore. I wan't another body! Give me another chance!"

"You've had your chances, didn't you?" said the cheerful english voice.

"No. Your times almost up, Deric" stated the sadistic voice.

He collapsed on the bench, which to everyone else just seemed as if he passed out asleep. They all laughed. He was spinning, that he knew for sure. He opened his eyes, and he was swirling in a whirlpool of black liquid. He pushed his hand into the liquid and pulled it out. It was thick. And it smelled awful. The laughs ensued as he started choking on the liquid that pulled him under. Then all was darkness.

Ambriel McSean lay quiet in her bed as she heard the screams coming from the room just down the corridor from hers. She wondered what was causing the screams...she wondered were they the same terrible screams which haunted her sleep.

"Lomac....Lomac...Lomac..I think that is his name." She whispered. "Poor guy, needs to fight it...fight it, Lomac, fight it." She beat her hand against the head rail of the bed.

Suddenly the hall was quiet...Ambriel leaned her head back and closed her eyes...she could feel the weight of sleep falling upon her like a blanket...soothing her into the darkness around her.

"No!" She screamed out..."No sleep, no sleep." Ambriel pulled her legs up to her chest and began to rock herself back and forth. The visions of the hideous shadows which haunted her dreams were as real as the world of which she lived. She knew if she slept the shadows would be waiting for her...she must stay focused.

The room began to blurr...the more she struggled to keep focused, the harder it became. It was no use...the heavy burden of the waken hours were to much to bare...slowly she drifted into the blackening void, just beyond reality. Sleep had claimed Ambriel once more.

Noah woke slowly, blinking with hazy eyes at the white ceiling of his room. The squeaky springs of his bed welcomed his weight with familiarity and the sheets felt clean but comfortable, this was his old room.

'That drug knocked me out...' he thought.

Raising to a sitting position, Noah touched his head gently. At least he didn't hurt. He looked around the small room, glad that there was only his bed and someone else's bed. He liked to have roommate, he liked to talk occasionally. He didn't have people in his head like the other sick people in the ward, he heard the voice of nature and certain objects, but he didn't have people talking to him in his head. Of course, that kind of people were sick, they needed help, treatment, understanding. He wasn't sick, he was just....he just needed pills.

He stood up slowly, walking over to his backpack to take out a hoodie and put it on. It was always cold there, especially with all the white surrounding it. 'A little red would be nice...' he though to himself.

Noah rummaged through his backpack again, taking out a lollipop and popping it into his mouth, and another one placing it in his pocket. He remembered trying to help that guy in the cell, but he supposed he couldn't help him anymore, not if Brenda had given him a shot too. Oh, well.

Slowly he made his way to the playroom, slouching in one of the couches. At his side some people were playing card games, he wasn't very good at that. Instead, he decided to start a conversation with the next available person.

"Hello," he said. Unfortunately, the lamp didn't answer back.

I sit up on my bed trying to count the minute's as they go past. Finally ,giving up at Four-Hundred and Eighty Seven ,I walk out into the corridors looking for something to do.As i reach the playroom, there was a man playing with some cards ,some one was talking but i couldn't see who and a man was playing a weird game on the pool table.Walking in I sit down at a empty, wooden table. From there i start tracing the marking's of where the wood gets lighter and darker. After a while i start to get bored and so i watch the man play his 'version' of pool.I think i picked up most of how you play just by watching,he had set the balls up into multipules of two and was draging them into five pockets.Quite a weird game but he seemed to like it!I looked back to the wooden table and noticed i had missed a line out!
"Now we can't have that can we."I mumble to myself starting again.

Niel woke up, only instead of being in his room he was inside the room in his mind. He looked over to see Chaos sitting on a couch. Niel and Chaos looked almost identical. The only difference between them was their hair and eyes. Niel had short black hair but Chaos has long silver hair that goes down to the middle of his back. Chaos'es eyes were crimson instead of Niel's light blue eyes

Chaos looked over at Niel and said "Welcome back."
Niel looked up and said "Hi Chaos. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing okay. You do know that we probably won't get out of this nut house until the doctors are convinced that I'm gone, right? We are probably going to have to lie to them to get out."
"I don't think lying is a good idea. If we get caught they will never believe anything we say again."
"Fine, we won't lie but don't blame me when the doctors start shoving pills down our throat."

Niel snaps back to reality and looks around his hospital room. "I have to come up with something to help past the time while in this place."

Ambriel awoke with a scream caught in her throat. Immediately she grabbed at her neck as if trying to remove some invisible object from off her body.

*Gasp*...."Damn, I will never escape the shadows...never escape the shadows."

As she tried to stand, her legs began to shake. "Hmmm...I wonder how much they gave me to sleep last night?"

The smell of over cooked bacon filled her head and turned her stomach...Breakfast wasn't going to happen and neither was the Day room. Unless they forced her again.
Ambriel thought back to last time she was forced to sit in the Day room, it took three aids and one nurse to hold her down and strap her in that awful chair...and once there, the eyes, those horrible eyes which looked her over.
"Nobody ever listens...they never listen...never listen."

Deciding against the forceful nature of the situation, Ambriel thought it best to go on quietly, at least she was able to decide where to sit in the room. It was better to avoid those eyes at all cost. Even if it meant being vulnerable for a time.

Making her way from her room, she hugged the wall and slowly walk into the coolness of the corridor. Looking around she saw faces staring back...sad faces, dark without color. One man, Larnor she thought she heard him called...looked back making eye contact.

"No...don't look at me, don't look at me!" She screamed..."Noooo!"

Immediately two orderlies came grabbing her small frame up into their arms..."It's okay Ms. McSean...nobody is going to hurt you."

Crying, she fell into them. "No chair, please no chair...I'll be good, I promise, just don't put me in that chair." Ambriel looked around in a panic.

"Okay, okay...no chair today Miss, you just keep quiet now, and go on in the Day room." The orderly, let go of her hand as she walked into the busy space.

An empty seat was open in the corner, which gave her a view of everything going on...it was safer to see it coming... than to be surprised. Quietly she walked over and sat down, curling her legs underneath her.

I do not know long how I've been playing pool. Perhaps I should have accepted that man's invitation a while back to play cards. The reason I ignored him was because I feared that he would throw me into some game that was uneven. Horror of horrors, I believe he wanted me to play 21. A game based on an odd number, now it doesn't get much worse than that. Well anyway, I might as well do something else.

"Excuse me sir," a nurse said, "But I do believe I've never yet showed you your room. It is very near this game room. Follow me."

Hesitantly and slowly, Larnor followed the nurse. As he came to a room, the nurse told him that this was his room.

"That's not my room!" Larnor frantically looked at the room's number. "Room 433 is reserved for someone else."

"My apologies, Larnor. You were right, that is not your room. Your room is right next to it."

Stepping into the room entitled 434, Larnor waited until the nurse began showing him his room.

"There is the bathroom, there is the bedroom. Oh and if you need anything, just press 136 on the telephone and someone will come and help you. Breakfast is in the morning at around 6-10. Enjoy your stay."

"Pardon me," flared Larnor, "But I want that lamp over in that corner removed immediately. Nobody needs five lamps, the ceiling lights brighten the room enough."

"I will take the lamp out then. Is everything ok now, Larnor?"

"The bed is tilted some! I have three bars of soap! The clock is set wrong! No, everything is not ok."

"You can move the bed and set the clock yourself. If you need more soap bars, come and ask the office."

"Let's see." Larnor paced back and forth. "I need at least eleven more."

    "Larnor, that is ridiculous."

    "They disappear fast, trust me."

"The bars of soap will be here shortly. Now I will just take that lamp out of the room and everything will be right." The nurse grabbed the lamp and carried it out. "I should have stuck with the restaurant business. These patients keep getting worse and worse. Why just yesterday, I met this man named Niel. I do believe his eyes changed color when I spoke with him. Oh, why did I ever come here."

Niel and Chaos grew bored just staying in their room so they decided to go to the day room. Walking into the room Niel spotted a girl sitting in the corner, she appeared to be afraid of the other people.

Chaos spoke up in the back of Niel's head and says "We should be careful of that girl. If she is staying all by herself, she could be the most dangerous one here." Niel responded by thinking "You know Chaos you are starting to sound completely paranoid."
"We are in an asylum and we talked to a guy who kidnapped and cut people to cure them. Ofcourse I'm going to be paranoid!"
"Well I'm going over to talk to her and if you don't want to be in the conversation than just don't speak."
    "Fine."

Niel walked over to the woman, smiled, and said "Hi, my name is Niel. Its a pleasure to meet you."

Ambriel looked up at Niel....she wondered who this guy was, seeking her company. Why had he singled her out, there was plenty of other people in the Day room to talk too. Dare she speak?...Perhaps it couldn't hurt. He seemed friendly enough....still.

Ambriel hated being so paranoid, but since her husbands death and the nightmares began, she had no choice...she knew it was the only way she would ever live...as depressing as life was.

Knowing the orderlies were watching...they were always watching. She knew she couldn't make a scene. She needed to force herself to communicate with this man...she needed to give him a chance.

"Uhm....my name is Ambriel...mmm...Ambriel McSean." Looking up, she reluctantly looked into his eyes. Hmmm...they seemed so kind...so innocent. For a second she felt comfortable.

"Ummm, how long have you been here Neil?" She hoped the words didn't sound forced. "But, how the hell do you make proper introductions in a nut house?" She wondered.

Waiting for a response she took a quick glance around the room...looking for anything which might need her attention...all seemed right.

"I got here yesterday." Niel said as he notice that she was looking around the room. He could see the fear in her eyes. They reminded him so much of his eyes after his dad died. If it wasn't for Chaos he probably would still be afraid of everyone. He sat down on the floor next to her chair and leaned against the wall. Niel says "Its ok, there is no need to be afraid."

Ambriel felt the tension ease a bit..for the first time in months she felt like a part of herself had returned...wondering how long this would last, she decided to take the moment for all it was worth.

"Well, Niel, I have been here for a while I guess...I am not sure of the exact day or month even..I was pretty out of it when I checked myself in. You see, I have nightmares and have had them since my husband died. My parents are deceased too...so, I guess you could say I am alone in the world." She hoped she wasn't giving too much of herself away.

"Great Ambriel, now they can add borderline boring to the list of nuttiness." Thinking quietly, she wondered if he could read her thoughts..."Don't be silly, you need to relax."

She noticed Neil was quiet, sitting against the wall. He had a sweet face and gentle eyes..."Wait, did they just change color?" She sat up and looked hard into his face...Yes, she was sure they did. Still, there seemed no reason to be alarmed. Ambriel eased herself back into her chair...maybe she had made a friend.
