"Well you know, we could have TWO of those," Terrence said to the lightning wolf. "How long can you keep it up?" The words fell on deaf ears. The lightning wolf darted among the cyberstones. They were too slow to touch him and the few who did were hit with a powerful electrical charge on contact. He was tearing them apart, but there was no way he could take on a hundred. It was suicide; the stupid animal would fight until it died of fatigue. The others were getting away. Sam had opened up an escape route, and Echo, in the form of a mysterious liquid, was keeping the cyberstones at bay. If he weren't a mindless beast right now, Seifer would gladly follow. Instead, the wolf could only stay and fight to the death. Fortunately, (or unfortunately,) he stepped in a patch of strange metal. As everyone knows, lightning and metal don't mix. And the spikes only made it worse. His own lightning circled around and came back at him. There was a loud BOOM, like a thunderclap, and the wolf collapsed to the floor, its fur singed black by its own electrical discharge. Gradually returning to his human form, Seifer lay on the ground, unconscious, as the cyberstones closed in around him.
[Um...its not really liquid Anonymous, it looks like liquid...its more like liquid metal or something, but um...if anything Echo would be more like a conductor and electricity would be bouncing off spikes and you would be in a death trap of electricity and spikes] Blaine watched everyone as they tried so desperately to survive. He sighed, should he risk his health for these low level freaks.
The wolf boy was good, taking down some of the cyberstones like they were but mere pebbles. But something happened. A boom sent him flying, returning to human. The cyberstones would kill him. But, if they were going to get out of this, they needed that wolf. She used the last of her strength, kneeling on the ground. Her nose flowed with blood, searing pain and stars in her eyes, but she needed to save him. She screamed, waving a hand, the other balancing her on the floor. The cyberstones flew off, just enough time for someone to get him out of there. She lay on the ground, drifting away. 'Stay awake,' she pleaded with herself, 'stay...'
Terrence was done with this sh*t. They refused to even try to come together as a team. If he found himself being the voice of reason, that's when you know it's bad. He saw Blaine with a similar look, and instantly understood what it was about. "I know, man," he said to Blaine. "I feel the same way." He shrugged and stared ahead, awaiting the next fiasco.
Damien listened to the arrogant members talking like they had a better grasp of their situation no sooner had they passed one fight with their enemy they turned on themselves and started complaining about their leadership. "You don't need orders to keep you alive use some common sense and fight when its appropriate, theres not always time to issue commands. I'm just like the rest of you i just got given this leader posistion." His voice held a sense of carmness he refused to rise to the challenge of the others as they continued to swear and complain. He tore off the star and threw it to the floor. "Anyone wantsss to be leader, be my guest." Before the others had a chance to rise to the challenge a door opened and more cyberstones entered and fighting broke out again. He watched Seifer as he took them on. Clearly he'd got the refined injection of what ever he'd been experimented on. He took on any cybetstone that strayed from the main chaos and tried to use his limited ability of strength and size due to his form to his avantage. The goverment sure hadn't put much thought into constructing a fighting force half of these people were of no use on the battlefield.
Agreeing with the leader he yelled to the others, "Don't you have enough of a common sense to stop fighting? Aren't you all ashamed that a child like me is teaching you manners? Urm... Sorry. My mouth speaks too much. He then suddenly went still. He was trying to unzip a package. Soon it was done and a minigun was soon in his hand. He fired at the CYberstones with a very good accuracy.
Echo sighed. These were a bunch of sorry loser fighters. They were getting themselves knocked unconscious, they fought terribly, and they couldn't kill a damn thing. Now he understood the pain of Blaine. Echo sighed a little and extended his spikes hitting a few Cyberstone. The Cyberstone that were pierced by the spikes suddenly turned to the strange metal marble and melted like acid.
As by an unseen hand, the star was lifted of the ground. "What we need are weapons and a way out of here." Corson's voice shook a little as he spoke. "Not all of us are fighters, but we can all walk, and we all want to get out of here." He should leave them, find a way to get out and flee this damned ship. "One of our people could talk to computers. Perhaps we could find a hangar and an armory of some kind." He was going to regret this. Corson sighed and held the star out to Damien. "You were chosen to lead us, and I'm sure they thought it true. All I ask is for you to lead us."
Seifer slowly opened his eyes. The last thing he remembered was turning into the wolf; everything after that was a blur. Now he found himself on the ground, in pain, surounded by the sounds of gunfire and crunching metal and stone. The battle was drawing to a close, but at what cost? He tried to get to his feet, but collapsed immediately. Instead, he crawled free of the crumbled remains of destroyed cyberstones on his hands and knees, eventually coming to where he'd left his coat and shoes. He also found his glasses on the ground a few feet away, though he could've sworn he'd handed them to someone before he changed. With his vision restored, he checked his surroundings. Echo and the leader were finishing off the last of the cyberstones. There was a guy with a gun helping out as well. Others were standing around, talking. Last, he noticed Sam on the ground, dead or unconscious -- he couldn't tell the difference from here. He limped to her side and draped his coat over her limp body. "Hey, wake up," he said. "Come on, wake up."
"Hey, wake up." Someone called to her from far away. She didn't want to leave. It was warm. "Come on, wake up." "No," she mumbled, barely aware. "I don't wanna..." Sam stirred and opened her eyes to see the man who was a wolf just above her.
"No," she mumbled, barely aware. "I don't wanna..." "Oh... well that's fine too." He didn't know exactly how her powers worked, but he could tell it took a toll on her every time she used them. "If you're tired, you should sleep. I'll wake you up if the group decides to move on," he said. The fighting was almost over. They were relatively safe here. Time to relax, at least until something else pops up.
Sam, stop whining, just get up already. "It's okay, I'm awake," she said. Her eyes were open, but her vision still blurry. "I'm not tired. I just..." Sam sat up and almost fell again. "I just tend to pass out when I lose too much blood." She wrapped herself in the coat, now suddenly embarrassed.
One of the Cyberstones was able to escape the mass fighting and went for it. It attacked Joshua. It took out a Cyberstone sword made from its own body and stabbed him scare in the heart. "Garrr Rar Ugha," Cyberstone said almost like a celebrated victory as he had killed the first of the Outlaws. R.I.P. Joshua Page Age 15. Died a brave warrior. Joshua's body fell limply on the ground. Everyone stared in shock.
Terrence looked at Josh's death with his eyes and mouth wide open. "Okay, now we have a reason to actually move along," he said. "Unless you want to meet HIS fate, we need to cut the crap and get outta here." He looked at the young boy laid out again and wish it hadn't happened, but was hoping this kid's bravery might spark the rest of the team.
She watched the boy, probably younger than her, die so suddenly. And the cyberstone was celebrating. "Okay, now we have a reason to actually move along," he said. "Unless you want to meet HIS fate, we need to cut the crap and get outta here." Sam rose to her knee, then up on her feet, balancing on Seifer once or twice to get up. The pain was splitting, but she could see now. "You're right," she said. "Let's go." Her knees slipped and threatened to buckle beneath her.
Blaine just smiled as the kid fell down dead. The kid deserved. Blaine didn't know him, Blaine didn't care to know him, and he would have been someone who would piss him off later on. Blaine stared at the Cyberstone celebrating. Reminded him of when the gangsters use to beat him around, a six year old kid, and they would dance around. Back then he didn't have any power. Back then he was just some punk orphan kid. But now he had power and he wasn't a kid. He took his injection out. It really was other safety over his health. He injected himself with the syringe and punched the celebrating Cyberstone. The creature went flying through the death spikes rendering and knocking at least thirty of his Cyberstone militia friends unconscious. "F@#k, that fell so F@3king good," Blaine said. As the Cyberstone came flying into the room that held all the creatures, it broke off some of Echo's spikes. "OWW!" Echo said, "Be careful there is someone here ya know." "You're nothing to me a$$wipe," Blaine replied. Echo made a huffing noise and then turned back into regular flesh and bone. He had some scrapes on his arm now he glared at Blaine, but stared at Joshua's dead body. He began to giggle and then covered his mouth. "He's right we should leave before we turn out like this poor fellow...rest in peace I didn't know much about you, but I am sorry for you," Echo said. Hopefully that covered up his laughing at the dead body.
Echo returned to his human form, and laughed. 'He's laughing again,' Sam thought. 'He's laughing at this poor kid's death. What's he laughing for? What does he know that I don't?' "What the hell are you laughing about?" she asked aloud. A few small pieces of dead cyberstone levitated around the room. 'Calm down,' she ordered herself. Sam opened her bottle for two more painkillers, but by this point they didn't do much to help.
"Meow," Betsy said. Blaine realized Betsy wasn't in his arms. He noticed Betsy was sort of near Sam. Suddenly he saw one of the Cyberstones getting up and shaking his head. Then running for Sam. Blaine was about to get a move on when the Cyberstone stopped in its track. Betsy and the Cyberstone were having a show down of some sort. "Meow," Betsy said. The Cyberstone backed up. "Purr," The Cyberstone backed up some more. "Murrr," The Cyberstone turned tail and ran. "Well what do you know...some Cyberstone are afraid of cats," Blaine said, "Betsy you're f@#king brilliant and that is why you are my girlfriend." Blaine stared at Sam as she yelled about Echo laughing at Joshua's death. He didn't blame Echo, but he could have more respect. "What the hell are you laughing about?" Echo stared at Sam. "I was reminded of my father's joke of scrapes of arms...I wasn't laughing at the dear death of a poor boy," Echo said, "That would be wrong of me." Echo smiled at her.
Cyberstones are afraid of cats? she thought. Brilliant... and stupid. She wondered if Blaine might let her carry Betsy for a while, but seeing how he's reacted to the other outlaws, she decided not to ask. "I was reminded of my father's joke of scrapes of arms...I wasn't laughing at the dear death of a poor boy," Echo said, "That would be wrong of me." She didn't believe him, especially when he smiled. "What's this joke then?" she challenged. She had to stop, no more anger, no more emotion. She pushed it from her mind as much as she could.
"Well my father allows said you have weapons and to always bare your weapons....those weapons are your arms and you better not get any scrape an arms," Echo said he began to giggle a little. It was the truth his father had told him something along those lines. But it wasn't true he was laughing at the kid. But Echo knew had to fake anything he was a cheater like that. "Its something most people wouldn't understand unless they met my father," Echo said. That also was the truth. Betsy rubbed on Sam's leg. "Meow," Betsy said. Blaine stared at Betsy and then at Sam. "Take her up will ya before someone steps on her," Blaine said. Blaine was feeling pretty lousy at the moment. He didn't really have enough immune system to fortify enough to acquire that much strength and now he was feeling sort of sick.
Echo talked and said nothing. His answer didnt satisfy, but she let it go. It was no use. Betsy rubbed against her leg. Sam picked up the cat and held it close in her arms. It purred happily as she pet it. "So, we standing around or going somewhere?"
"What's this joke then?" Sam asked. "Well my father allows said you have weapons and to always bare your weapons....those weapons are your arms and you better not get any scrape an arms," Echo said. "Its something most people wouldn't understand unless they met my father." "It's not even worth getting angry over. Isn't it obvious he's half crazy?" Seifer didn't fully believe that himself. He was pretty sure Echo was borderline nutso, but he knew there must be something more going on in that guy's head... something he didn't like. "So are we moving or what?" Terrence asked. "So, we standing around or going somewhere?" Sam said. "Isn't it obvious?"
Blaine shook his head and started in the direction he had originally went when he was going to leave the crew. He was a man of action not standing around. He didn't like Echo and didn't believe Damien. He didn't care any more. "Take good care of Betsy while she's in you arms," Blaine said. All though feeling rather woozy Blaine continued walking they could follow him or not. For the first Echo followed Blaine. He found that at least one man was going to get them in a death trap it would be Blaine. Echo wanted them to hate Blaine another part of his plan. Echo giggled slightly at the hate that would boil, when Blaine got someone hurt.
