I also program, started when I was 18 and inherited my brother's Atari 400 in 1982. Right now, I'm working on a tiered coordinate system as a means of representing an entire galaxy worth of space down to the meter (maybe fraction of a meter, not sure). It works similar to a base number system with the base of c (though I want to make it flexible enough to have a user enter their own): rel_x = x3 * c^3 + x2 * c^2 + x1 * c + x4 Same principle for y and z. The coordinate for a single body would be: typedef struct { int x[4], y[4], z[4]; // a total of 48 bytes. } coordinate; The problem I'm working out is when a coordinate falls into a negative region of the Cartesian. The product of two negatives is a positive number, so n3 and n1 times their respective magnitude would end up being positive when they should represent negative magnitudes. Also, using unsigned ints, the range is −2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647. Plenty of room to represent a base of c, but again, if the coordinate falls into a negative region, there would be positive numbers mixed in there. I'm not sure I want that, so I'm thinking that I might use unsigned ints, but implement my own sign in bit 32 to represent negative regions. I also play computer games, far too much.
Most anything pertaining to creative release. Most specifically, guitar/music. I used to do more art (sketches and graphic design), but less so these days with three little ones in the fold. Love to read, if that can be considered a hobby. Beyond that, sports--basketball and football (American), if we're getting into the details.
-Art. (see unfinished photo of giant roar maker) -I like going really really fast in/on anything but a car. -fixing motorcycles (probably because I've gone too fast) -football (the proper version ), -weights, cycling, boxing..... I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff. -oh wait, i grow veggies etc in my garden, and i have fish.
There is hiking in the Appalachian, archery, classical concerts, and tea shops. Not much I would say.
I play softball for my university—not really a "hobby" since it's basically a full-time job. But I also love working out, especially weight lifting. If I don't get a workout in first thing in the morning, I'm in a bad mood all day. I also love to cook, although I have scared away many a taste tester by hiding healthy things in my food. (zucchini in brownies: don't knock it 'til you've tried it!)
Although it's a necessity I do like to cook. Most of the time I have my standard menu but I'll try out new recipes when there's time. I get out walking everyday but that too is a necessity or go nuts. Flying is probably my real hobby right now. I plan tons of small trips that I never go on but there's something about the process that's a lot of fun.
You mean, there's more to life than writing ... Joking! I am very creative so most things to do with crafts like cross stitch, machine sewing, card making, gardening and music (listening, not making) are all high on my list. I have a C&G in photography too so I do like taking photographs, particularly landscape. As I live on the coast, I love walking on the beach and was there with the camera last night to capture the lush sunset. I enjoy messing with food and have plans to do a cookery/recipe book at some stage. The rest of the time, I'm frazzled out with family life and keeping everything in working order.
What is a C&G? And is it contagious I lived on the beach and then fricken moved and took up photography much more seriously and now want to move back to the beach - just so I can see sunsets without houses and flippin power lines arrrggh. Planning to move in the coming months and looking forward to it. I enjoy landscape also.
I've lived at the coast for 7 years, I wouldn't move anywhere else. C&G = City & Guilds. It's an examination board thing. I got it when I was 16, when there was no such thing at digital photography so I've kinda had to re-teach myself the digital side of a camera. If I knew how to re-size them, I'd post one of the ones I took last night, here.
I'm still working with MS Digital Imaging (and trying not to throw my lappy out the window when I open Photoshop ...)
I forgot to mention one, I have large 40" loom in our living room which is used to make cool stuff like towels and scarves.
Books and games went hand-in-hand for me. I both started with them at a young age and a day doesn't go by without me either reading, playing games or both. I can also enjoy watching movies and television series.
One of my favorite hobbies is playing the piano. I've been playing since age 7, so I guess you could say it's in my blood. I also enjoy photography, although I've only been doing this for about a year.
What do I do that's not related to writing these days oh jeez. I feel like I just watch a lot of youtube and that's not much of a hobby. I play video games, sometimes with friends, and there's tabletop nights sometimes too so stuff like mtg and dnd. I also have a sorely-neglected ocarina I keep meaning to pick pack up - maybe I can still play Zelda's Lullaby but probably not.
