Yeah, it didn't help that I was interrupted mid-posting by a phone call, so flash and I posted pretty much simultaneously.

Jesca was bored and spoiling for some action anyway. She might have picked up some loser for the night, but she was really looking more for an excuse to fight. Her only interest in Pappy and Dog was that they were so obviously (to her) military goons trying to pass themselves off as civvies. If they had minded their own business, she'd probably have picked a fight with someone else.

She really only went after Pappy. Dog was coming to Pappy's aid, which she was ready for, so he got a faceful of Blue Hades.

Well, she was wrong about Dog. He's been on Ceres for five years, and he's been UA for eleven.

I suppose we can abide by that stereotype, but in reality, you can't even tell some military members are in the service.

However, it's probably easy to tell that Dogface is prior military. He still has some of the mannerisms, and a moto tat. He loved the UEAF at first, but he eventually left because of his principles.

 

Hi everyone,

Paedolos is the nick, and I've been following your roleplaying for a couple of days. It appears to me to be some great fun, and while I am not very experienced in RP over Text, I'd like to give it a shot.

Long story short, here's the character I am offering to add into the PAX campaign.

Name: Akinlabi Soglo
Gender: M
Age: 30

Appearance: Akinlabi is dark black, like any native African. At 6'2", he is built to physical perfection, as strong as a bear, yet with the sinuous grace of a panther. His haircut consists of thick dreadlocks pulled into a ponytail, adorned with various beads. A thick stubble of a beard is covering his face -- at least, what remains of it. Akinlabi was mortally wounded in combat, losing his left eye and a large portion of his skull. In order to save his life, a field surgeon replaced parts of his face with crude cybernetic protheses: from his left cheekbone, all the way to his frontal scalp and temple, Akinlabi's left-part of the face is stitched metal, with a (relatively) low-tech sensor (which is always deactivated) replacing his lost eye. Due to this deformation, and perhaps also his past and personality as well, he is a man almost impossible to read. Always carrying a stern expression, although those close to him have sworn his lips can sometimes curve into a smile.
Akinlabi is raely seen without his 24" machete, sheathed at his side, with its varnished wooden hilt engraved with religious symbols.

Personality: If you'd spend an hour with Akinlabi, you'd probably think he was mute. If you'd spend a week with him, you'd strongly believe he's unsocial, only muttering a few words in a blank tone and rarely answering your questions. But if you'd take the patience to gain his friendship, you'd understand there are little men as loyal as he is, or as strong of beliefs. Steel would bend before Akinlabi's will would; a man of religion, he zealously follows his faith. He converses in short sentences, and in long pauses.
Akinlabi is an animist, believing all natural things have a spirit. He rejects technology, claiming it being an abomination of nature, where man purges the spirits in order to gain unnatural strengths. He is however pragmatic, accepting the use necessary technologies such as spaceships for travel, yet without much joy. He will never use an energy weapon, nor his cybernetic eye. For him, that part of his face is dead.

Background: Akinlabi was born to slaves on a slaver spacecraft. His parents were followers of the Vodun religion, and as their means aboard the slaver were scant, they did impart upon their son their faith's teaching whenever they could. Once he reached teen-age, Akinlabi was separated from his parents in favor of working the mines, where he became strong and rugged. Yet he did not spend his entire life as a slave.
Many years later, when the young man already accepted the fact he was destined for a life of labor, the slaver transport he was on was engaged in combat by UEAF forces. Severely damaged, the ship was consecutively left to drift in space, all of its personnel dead or dying. A few days later, when a freebooting crew were scouting the sector and salvaging the dysfunctional spacecraft for spares, Akinlabi was discovered. Treated, he was soon 'adopted' into the smuggler team. Since, Akinlabi has sworn to give his life to the crew and captain, for saving him from slavery and oblivion in space.
A few months later, he was severely wounded in a battle which had cost him his left eye, while trying to protect the ship's captain. Dying and unconscious, he was treated with the best tools available at the time, which saved his life. With half his face in a deformed state, he refused to receive any further help since, claiming that healing through technology would only take away from his soul.

Now, as I'm joining somewhat late, and trying to figure a way to elegantly merge into the story, it requires some effort. I was thinking to be part of Wolf's crew, and soon appear in order to ensure his safety. I must admit that I couldn't keep track with everything that has happened in your game, and what I'm really trying to say is that I need your help to locate that introduction point.

That's quite an interesting character you have. Jon is the man you want to speak with. I'm sure you two can come up with something. I'll post any suggestions that I may have. (I don't have any now, but inspiration may strike at any moment.)

 

Hello and welcome Paedolos, I'm glad to see that you've joined like we talked about, can't wait to fight alongside you in the good fight.

A small criticism though, Lebby...

Wolf never forwarded any of the players any coordinates, he received a private message and snuck out, watch the netspeak, and also, there are no PDA's in the twenty fourth century, I think you meant PDD's (Personal Data Device)

Got back home late today so probably won't post until tommorow, we'll be moving along again shortly and Paedolos I'll think of a way to sneak in your character, it may be sloppy, but you'll be in by my next post, promise.

 

Nikhil, just one small problem with your post, might need to edit it. Arc found Nathan, but Nathan's been missing for hours now. I planned on having him meet up with the team later...

 

i think if your character showed up as a body guard to the contact that would be cool. but yeah its up to jon to slot you in somewhere.

and jon, perhaps nathan can find our african friend while he is lost..and bring him back to the heard.

 

I think I understand the problem here. Nikhil, there may be a lot of them, but read the damn posts. It's probably the most important of the RPG rules.

I like Shadow's idea about finding Akinlabi, problem is, there would need to be a reason for Nathan bringing him, he's not just going to take a stranger with him...

 

Hey, just wondering, as my character's just been caught after stealing some bread and berries, what would the punishment be on Ceres?

they're not going to be shoving you out of an airlock though if that's what you're wondering.

 

There will undoubtedly be a trial first. This isn't a barbarian camp, They have police and they have rule of law. That allows time for a jailbreak, or to brine officials, etc.

 

I'm leaning towards a slap on the wrist, we'll see how it plays out, since you insist on playing it solo NRG

if you're interested in playing just make a character, there is a template on the first page of the Pax thread, I'll think of a way to fit you into the story. You may also want to peruse the Pax discussion thread, it has some good info there and all us players have feedback and stuff there.

Edit: I'm honored that you are allowing me. I haven't been on WF for so long, I'm just glad I can get into a good RP.

 

I'm not looking for anything really, characters of any "class" or "race" are welcomed, although I don't really have any dedicated races or classes as of yet. Most of us so far are a military class and human, but at least one player and a couple NPC's are non-military cyborgs. There is alot to choose from.

Any kind are welcomed, but for now I have a restriction against evil characters. That may be the sort of thing I can change in the future, it may make stories more interesting, but it should be something discussed with all the members in the future.

LOL, there may be too many guys, no one wants a sausage fest, but the gender is up to you.

Pics are cool, from now on I prefer to keep pics in the discussion thread to make everyone concentrate on strictly writing skills in the game thread. If you have an idea of what your char looks like and want to post a pic in the discussion thread go for it, I would.
