Pets and writing, pests or best friends?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Christina58, Mar 20, 2018.

Anyone else have pets who want to help you write, or like to just be beside you?

My cat Kiara like to help me write, she likes to walk across my keyboard trying to get attention. If I put her out of the room she cries loudly. She will also bring me her toy, drop it by my feet and cry. I am not sure but I think she wants to play, ya think? Silly Kiara, eventually she will settle down beside me.

I am comforted just knowing she is there with me.

My cat, Molly, likes to lay on keyboards, papers, or anything she thinks I might be interested in that isn’t her.

My youngest dog will lay on my lap and the other two will gather around my feet. They're only pests when they decide they no longer want to be in the room. :p

My dog likes to sleep near me when I write. He usually doesn't like to be left out of anything, so his determination is much appreciated! :D

My cat usually lays on the bed behind me when I'm writing at my desk. I turn around and pester her more often than she pesters me :D

Those who read my Progress Journal may know this already, so forgive the repetition, but it cracks me up so I'll post it here. The neighbor's cat comes by for a nap at my place while I write in the afternoons. Every afternoon sometime between 12:45 and 1 PM there's a loud meow at my door, I let him in, and he strolls to the bedroom, where he takes a nap atop the steamer trunk.

Occasionally, he sleeps on my couch instead. (My writing desk is in the livingroom.) If it's cold that day, sometimes he climbs up and sleeps on my lap while I write.

He has a wonderful home. Mine just happens to be quieter during his preferred naptime. I call him my Visitin' Kitteh.

My rather massive cat is as affectionate as any creature I've known, and my lap is his turf. Depending on where I'm working, that forces me to either wobble my wireless keyboard on top of him, or push my chair waaay back from the desk to accommodate his bulk. Neither scenario is ideal, and I have to scratch him for at last ten minutes before we even get to that stage.

Max is adorable! If he were mine, he would be absolutely spoiled and...what's the expression? Mollycoddled? Poor dog would probably grow up to be insufferable. :)

I'm quite sure my dog LeeLee thinks of my writing time as "failure to deliver slices of cheese time", and thusly judges me. o_O

My cat Kiara just went into heat again (she had an appointment to get spayed this Friday), now she will keep my company while howling at the top of her lungs. I am waiting for my neighbours to complain, although hubby is leading that train. No sleep last night, but I still adore her.

I adore him! He strolled in one day with my sister when she was bringing in groceries and made himself at home. I met his people a few weeks later after he was already a regular at my place. That was an interesting first conversation. ("Um...I know this is totally strange, but...")

Aw, Olly was adorable. I love cats' determinations to fit into spaces they want to fit into, even if logic would indicate otherwise!I'm so sorry for your (collective) loss. R.I.P, Olly.

Ditto! I'm gonna need a cushion, though. May as well go all the way with it.

Big Papi (our 6lb Yorkie) has been forbidden from entering my office since he was a 2lb puppy. He doesn't even know the room exists, so no problem there. Interestingly enough, he seems to be afraid of stairs (my office is on the second floor). He takes the first few just fine, but then he stops and looks helpless, which is funny because he's not afraid of anything else. He'll jack up 100lb boxers and bears no problem, but stairs? No, sir. Oh, and plastic bags. He hates those. When I shake out a garbage bag or something he hides under the couch. Not his fault... his brain is about the size of a walnut.

    OMG That face!!! He's adorable!
Smart dog...He's scamming a ride up the stairs.:) Why climb a mountain when you can get a ride via human chair lift?
With that cute little face, I'd be scammable, too!
