The woman in this picture looks like she’s doing that thing where they get bored and start messing with your lips and nose because you’re not paying them enough attention.

 

I suspect the painter experienced the same. Zeus doesn't seem bothered though. I could only wish for such stoicism.

It is, from a time when there were a lot of strange awkward paintings. It seems like they were trying to pre-determine poses for early silent movie melodramas, like where Nell is tied to the railroad tracks as the train approaches, moving a little too fast and jerkily.
