I was wondering if people would be interested in having either a forum dedicated to flash fiction, or a subforum in the Short Story section. I think it would be a good place for people to post short excerpts of their writing without cluttering the Short Story forum. And there seems to be a lot of interest in Flash Fiction, judging by this thread.
I think we should have our very own flash fiction contests section to be honest. But thats another story which will get swept under. (for good reson)
I like this idea, too. I think it would be good for people who want to write prose, but don't have the time/chops for a full-blown story (like me).
With that said though, the short story contest word limit begins at 500, which means it pretty much carters for flash fiction. With the numbers that were expected, and those that entered does show interest though.
Flash is challenging in its own right, because you must be concise and still gather good story elements. It can take as long as a substantial short story to write, because of the time for judicious trimming. I rather like the idea of a flash contest on a regular besis. We had one this week for the Short Story Contest, but the theme itself didn't inspire me. Maybe Gannon would consider alternating for a while between a Short and a Flash Story Contest, but it is up to him.
Cogito, I have a question. Can anyone participate on the contest? Is it needed two constructive critiques to post your story in the contest?
For future reference, if you have a question for a moderator, please send a PM, especially if the question is off the thread's topic.
