I'm not sure I can be of much use because I find it easiest keep it all in my head so I can develop it whenever I want (maths class), but I find it helps to just jot down a few main ideas if they're good--particularly if it's late at night and you have a terrible memory. I find writing it down makes it less exciting and more confusing. I too simply detest the idea of of plot creation software.
