Use the report button for all save the ones that look like they should be Resources. The Resources area is not part of the standard forum, so I have to go back and do those manually. Moose has been putting in a standard reply to those particular threads so I can go back and search for them later.

As wrey says my resources standard reply has been "ETB: @Wreybies resources" Ive also been putting ETB at the start of each report so mods not involved with the project know its not a misconduct report

Ive also been using "fuck the workshop" and "do my homework" as short hand for those rule breaking posts that want deleting

    Does anything get deleted?

I wonder if I should go back and re-mark the ones I'm recommending for Resources. @Wreybies?

Things that were solid rule violations, yes, though it's important to me not to negatively impact overall history in the forum, so really only when it's clear that the post shouldn't have been allowed to begin with. It happens. Things slip through. We're only human. :)

Yeah, that year was an undeniable, certifiable community meltdown year. It was an invasion that threatened to completely sideswipe the purpose of the venue. I became a mod for the second time toward the latter part of that summer.

What caused it ? Was it the election or something ? or did you just have an influx of "special characters" ?

It was a lot of things. It was what gave unholy birth to the Debate Room. And it wasn't just here. I saw it spreading everywhere I frequented. Prior to that, like any other forum, we directed "hot button" topics to Reddit. There was a span of time when I was randomly opening threads to show Daniel how quickly they all get hijacked into debates. "Water is wet. Discuss." Three posts later and it was invariably about Guns, Gender, Gay is/isn't a choice, etc.

Seriously. Didn't fucking matter. All that mattered was how "right" people felt. I had to cull quite a few Radicals and Reactionaries, which proved to be deeply confusing to them because just when they thought they had me pegged as being in one camp or the other, it seemed I wasn't. And it didn't matter how many times I told them "It's writing venue. All I care about is writing. I couldn't be paid to care about any of your politics" those words seemed to be issued into a vacuum, unheard.

I feel like that kid who's always running after the group yelling "wait for meeee!"

You guys are seriously dedicated. I'll just poke along behind you and fill in tags and such.

(Oh, and sorry Wrey: I thought there was an actual "essays" forum, but it was only a Workshop thing, so I ended up reporting a bunch of essay threads that didn't need it.)

When I started this last go-round cleaning out the General Writing bin, the subforum had just shy of 10k threads. I thought maybe, just maybe, there would be another couple thousand I could move to more appropriate areas. With everyone's help here it's been over three thousand! I am simply delighted. :-D

Oh, gosh, not until the rest of us who weren't there then have a chance to gawk at the carnage. I mean, why should you have all the fun?

(The threads can be closed to further replies, if they're that bad. Make 'em into Historical Artifacts.)

I've been blowing time I should be sorting my own physical paperwork, gleaning through GW from the present day backwards, picking up whatever might have been missed before.

I find I'm recommending a lot of things for Insight & Inspiration that maybe don't belong there. I mean, the OPs are asking for insight and inspiration, but the threads themselves might not come up to that subforum's standard of sticky-worthy.

I leave it to the mods' discretion. I've reached August of 2015 and I'm packing it in for the night.

Bucket-emptying, I mean. I make no guarantees about anything else.

To be honest I haven’t had time to do any since we all took a break, so I need to rendezvous with @Tenderiser so we can get back in sync at some point.

Surely a large-capacity chicken toilet should be on someone's list of Things To Invent. Get your Rube Goldberg on, @big soft moose, and go to it! :)
