I'm terrible. Both because I just had to take a keek at those terrible threads from January 2013, and because when---boo! I didn't find them; I guess they've been moved or removed already---- I flagged a few more innocuous threads for shifting. Not too many; maybe seven or eight. More work for you once the hay's in. So to speak.
If you look through the lounge from 2013 , or the forum announcements/support and feedback you can get a fair idea of the shit/fan interface.... (yeah I am that bored) - although again the worst of the shite has probably already been mopped up
Depends on how one looks at it. You saw first hand just how many threads were blatant rules violations. When those get left lying around, they confuse new members as to what the rules actually are. We say one thing, they see another. I like order and tidiness, but it's not just about my preference. It's about consistency. Far as I'm concerned, you folk helping here are like a civil engineering crew come in after a long battle. The battle itself is one thing, one paradigm that has to be handled; the rubble and disorder it leaves behind is another. You are all helping me clean up that rubble and disorder so things can get back to normal.
Are you still cutting the grass , or shall we fire up the bulldozers and clear the rest of the detritus away ?
I actually got rained out. Just came back from a visit to the local apothecary. Bulldoze away, old bean.
I'm at the end of November 2012 now ... I shall return to the clearance of debris from october 2012 tommorow (many thanks for the prettty medal ) hopefully we are moving out of the rear edge of the battle area... although i did think the guy who dedicated chistmas morn 2012 to trolling was a particularly sad individual
Thanks for the ribbon. I shall wear it proudly, ever keeping in mind the immortal words of my Site Planning prof in architecture school: "The only thing a civil engineer has to know is that sh!t runs downhill." Seems appropriate in the present situation, what?
Trying to figure out what's the suitable destination for threads inquiring about/commenting on writers' organizations, conferences, workshops, etc., especially in regard to members' actual experience with them. It ain't writing, per se. Nor is it Querying, exactly. The joke is that some of these threads are mine. Bucket!
That's why I left those threads where they were ... I dunno either. We could do with a business of writing board in the publishing sub section,
Thanks for the medal @Wreybies That was a lovely surprise and very kind! @Tenderiser I'm free to do some more sorting today, so if you're not already on it PM me where you got to and I'll carry on.
Badge buddies Can you confirm here where you are up to ? I'm pushing into the dank dark swamp of despair in autumn 2012 so we should be meeting fairly soon and we don't want a blue on blue
I’m in May 2011. I suggest I keep going until the beginning of Jan 2011, and you keep going unti the end of Dec 2012. Then we’re done
Wait, wait. I forgot which direction I was going in. I’ll keep going until the end of 2011. @big soft moose you keep going to the beginning of 2012.
Sounds like a plan ... if we haven't got below the 6k watermark we can forage through each others leavings and see how many more we can find to move with fresh eyes (catrin has already picked up a fair few I missed)
First and foremost, I've been itching for some time now to use the WF Guardian award for something other than financial support of the forum. We aren't all blessed with expendable petty cash, and there most certainly are other ways that one can be of significant, positive benefit to the way the forum functions, so I was pleased as punch to give them. Just another note on a few of the destination forums suggested: As has already been made mention earlier in this thread, General Writing isn't the only subforum that wants attention, but it was the one that wanted the most attention, and by a very wide margin. Don't take it to sternum if I leave a post where it is. Some areas (like Insight & Inspiration) have their own issues as regards what's meant to go in there, so I'm looking twice when it comes to those particular areas. At least 95% of the time I am moving threads directly to where you are suggesting, so please don't think your efforts are going by the wayside. Not in the least.
I've been looking on enviously, up till now, because I just haven't the time to contribute, but thank you @Wreybies for handing out these awards. Your helpers have been and are wonderful, and they deserve this recognition.
Thanks @Lifeline Just got to the end of July 2011. I'll probably do a bit more then finish off for today.
FYI, I will murder one kitten for every "I've got so many ideas I don't know which one to write about!" thread I see from this point.
