Pretty much the bits that still need sorting are in the top quartile, so we are waiting for Daniel to surface to sort out the node issue.

Correct. I've tagged @Daniel in this thread several times and Facebooked him concerning the efforts made by the team. Daniel likes data over opinion and if there's one thing the Volunteers dug up was data. We've created subforums in the past just off of poll information ("Hey, do you guys think a {fill in the blank} subforum would be useful?") but getting information that way suffers from a number of issues. It's better that we actually see what the use is rather than ask, and that's what you all did.

Sorry I've not been around much this week. My presence may be spotty next week as well. Hurricane Irma formed well out in the middle of the Atlantic (they usually form much closer to the American East Coast) and it looks like the Greater Antilles are right in its path. o_O Looks like it'll be a doozy.

I'm still doing bits with the resource section in the meantime , but tbh that's 99% done now (again we need @Daniel if we want to change categories around)

and Wrey - You stay safe, dude. that does look like its going to be a tad blowy

I will, thanks man. They're usually still poorly formed at the point they cross from the Lesser to the Greater Antilles (Puerto Rico being the line between the two). Irma is already at a Cat 3 and still days away in colder waters. The heat of the Caribbean is petrol for these things. This is the latest forecast:

Stay safe, Wrey. Doesn't look too good from probability forecasts that I've seen.

It is indeed time for you to batten down the hatches - you stay safe and we'll see you on the otherside

Yeah. She is officially a fully fledged 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, and not just by a little bit. She's way over the limit of sustained winds at 157 mph. She's currently at 175 mph sustained winds. And they dropped her projected track at about 30 miles closer to our coastline than yesterday evening. I'm a Florida boy, so I don't say this lightly, but I'm starting to get a little worried.

I'm more concerned that wrey was apparently bought in Florida - I didn't realise mail order brides were a thing for Floridians

Haven't even had coffee yet. Went to the grocery store again this morning when I saw the change. If one of you wants to play pluck and plot with those NHS posts, be my guest. I don't even know where that conversation begins. Does one of you know the routine, how to do it?

Yeah, life as a little Puerto Rican sex slave had occasional perks, but mostly sucked. (all puns intended) :-D

I could probably work it out - but you might want to tell us in case I delete the entire database by accident

I assume we create a new thread, then select all the relevant posts from the NH thread and merge them on to it

Just click the box on the individual posts, and when you get to the last one, use its little pop-up window to get to the Move Posts option. It'll give you another pop-up asking what subforum and if you want to make it go to an existing thread or a new thread. Pick new thread and give the thread a title. Nothing to it. If you miss any upon review, you can just move them to the existing thread you've created and they'll drop into their correct chronological spot. Should be just one person doing it though so there's no crossing of wires with the creation of the new thread.

Job done and thus far the four horsemen of the netaclypse (trolls, spammers, sock pupets and server failure) haven't put in an appearance

course the not happy thread looks a bit odd now - but as i don't have delete post powers i couldn't do anything about that (you could trash everything from 12892 tbh)

Maybe move them to a separate (new) thread and then report that thread for deletion.

nah Wrey or someone can just tidy them up when they get a chance - creating a dross thread doesnt seem like it would help

Not too terribly worried about dross in a thread like the Not Happy Thread. It's the kind of thread that's meant to meander. That amputated bit will quickly slide to a back page.

The 11:00 a.m. (GMT-4) NOAA update now has the storm at 180 mph sustained winds.

Thats not good - time to start digging that bunker and stocking up on everything (in the Uk if we get 80mph its considered a major crisis - 180 would cause national melt down)
