I think I found it less intense than the others. It didn't draw me in, I couldn't get involved. I thought the acting was quite good, but the movie just seemed like a string of murders. I guess it wasn't psychological enough for me. The other movies took their time exploring the characters' minds, but this one didn't seem to put as much effort into the psychological side.

Mirage (1965), with Gregory Peck, Diane Baker, and Walter Matthau was an excellent psychological thriller. It had all the feeling of a Hitchcock movie, but Sir Alfred was not involved in it.

Gregory Peck is a man with amnesia, and the more he discovers bits and pieces of his past, the more he begins to believe he may be guilty of murder. Meanwhile, his day to life becomes increasingly dangerous with sinister characters on his trail.

an old classic I like though not psychological is Phantasms one and two. The third was ok but lacked the goodness of the fiorst two and the fourth was poor and perfephetic. But i enjoyed the first 2.

i really loved one of the ones that Steven King had wrote and they turned it into a film. i cannot remember the name of it now but the writier is in a car crash in the snow and breaks his legs and stuff and this mad lady looks after him and will not let him leave and she breaks his feet. it is horrible but really good. also The Shinning was good, made me think and quite jumpy.

Misery is the one you mean, heather. And I have that on Sky Plus still. I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. The only problem with films of Stephen King's books is that they never turn out to be as good as the books...

Misery with James Caan and Cathy Bates.

As for The Shining, King hated the movie Stanley Kubrick made with Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, so he filmed a remake as a TV miniseries with Steven Webber and Rebecca DeMornay, following the book's vision more closely.

Frankly, I think the Kubrick film was better by far. No one can do crazy like our boy Jack, and the Kubrick version was much creepier in every way (even the Jackless scenes).

I don't know about insomniac, but Insomnia was a very good film (possibly what you meant...). It stared Al Pacino as a cop who was investigating a crime in Alaska (I think), and because of the constant daylight he couldn't sleep. His descent into sleep deprived madness was brilliant. It also had Robin Williams giving one of the best performances I've seen from him.

I liked Insomnia as well. Unfortunately I've only seen it once, using a cheap projector and a couple of bedsheets.
    Sounded excellent though.
One weird movie was "Perfect Blue". It's an anime, that dealt with a pop star trying to become a professional actress. She starts seeing her old self running around saying she isn't real anymore, gets a stalker, she can't tell reality from the tv show she's working on, and things like that.
Bizarre, but in a good way.

I completely agree. I saw the Kubrick version first and enjoyed it quite a lot, so decided to hire the original and I was deeply disappointed. The suspenseful music was constant, the acting poor and the filming was pretty amateur.

I've never read the book, though I would like to. I'm about to read Pet Semetary, I'm not sure if I'll like King's style or not.

owww, a good one a i watched last night was Hide and Seek. i really never expected what happened in that. i thought iut would be like some creepy guy killing loads of women, like they tend to be, but it is not, it is really good and takes an unexpected twist. i recomend watching it, see if you can figure out who Charlie is. ;)

Jacobs Ladder - scary, crazy, messed up stuff.

Farenheit 451 - Good movie, and some pretty cool ideas.

Memento - anterograde amnesia sufferer trying to figure out who killed his wife

The Machinist - A man driven nuts by his own concious.

Those are my picks anyway. My username comes from 451 by the way.

What were the bedsheets for?

I think I've seen that... Is the twist:

That they're all just the personalities of one person?

The bedsheets were the screen. It was for Frosh week at the university I went to, and we watched it in the tennis court.

I haven't seen the first one. The second was alright though. Nothing special, but not bad.
