Hey, quick vocab question that is doing my head in. It's a term that describes the phenomenon of when people make choices they feel are seen by their peers as "good, moral, or ethical", and then, once they have assured themselves of their goodness through these deeds, they then engage in "bad, immoral, or unethical" behavior because they already checked the "I'm a good person" box, with an ink-pen, of course. This term was doing the rounds the last couple of years and now I need it and I'm pulling an Error 404. Anyone?
Social Desirability Bias IDK, seems pretty close to what you are looking for. However, I will leave my source here, and you can check the list to see if there is a better term to fit your definition. https://psychologenie.com/glossary-of-psychology-terms-definitions
Never fails, as soon as I posted the question, the answer popped into my head! Kinda' like the best spellcheck and grammar check in existence is just hitting the POST button. As soon as you tap it a flurry of errors you were blind to suddenly stand out in 3D relief. Regardless, many thanks. That is indeed the term for which I sought.
