Only 3% of UK residents have snow tires.

    Here's London, England with snow.

Psychological research has found that whenever you see or hear a word that resembles your name, a little flash of pleasure biases you towards thinking the thing is good.

So, for example, people named Dennis or Denise are slightly more likely than people with other names to become dentists.

the mammal didelphis virginianus does not react to snake venom. it is also extremely rare for it to host rabies.
    It is also very homely.

This obsession with serial killers just gets weirder and weirder. Someone at work mentioned that they have paintings of various serial killers. Uh.. what?

There's been snow north of us. There's been snow south of us.

But not here. My weather dance apparently worked.

Do people really buy snow tires anymore? We have always just used all-season tires here in the upper Midwest.

I have all-season radials but there are people in my family that change their tires every fall and spring

In Osaka we got about an inch of snow eight years ago. It stuck on the sidewalks but not the roads, which merely had a bit of slush. The taxis ran tire chains and the bus service was canceled for the day.

I may have experienced that (or at least, that period). I was in Osaka around that time, and got on a train heading east to Kyoto. When I left Osaka, it was cold and cloudy, but there was no snow. The train went through a tunnel, emerged on the other side of the mountains to a winter wonderland. White as far as the eye could see. It was like emerging from the wardrobe into Narnia.

Later the same day, I tried to visit the battlefield of Sekigahara. I got as far as the car park of Sekigahara. No freaking chance - couldn't even make it out of the station to the main road. Three foot mounds of snow by the side of the train tracks (but the trains were only delayed by half an hour).

Gave up and went to Hikone instead, which was also snowy, but at least the roads were clear and I could walk on them without falling over and breaking my neck.

Are you also aware of the Florida Skunk Apes? If not that's fun to look into. Something like Bigfoot, only these are definitely real.

Thank the dip shits who thought a monkey would make a great pet, then learned that a monkey the size of a two month old child was also as strong and ‘roid raging as an olympic power lifter from 1978 USSR. They’re the ones who turned the monkeys loose in the everglades.

The Mrs. Has been ordering stuff for Christmas gifts, and having it sent to the store so it won’t get stolen off the front porch. Imagine how nervous I get when UPS pulls up and two people get out of the truck.

I remember hearing that at least some of them escaped from zoos and circuses after hurricanes, which are rather frequent in that area.

Many years ago, I read an article about two friends who had been trading the same ancient, desiccated hot dog back and forth for decades. When one of them died, the other finally won the competition by slipping it into her coffin so she was stuck with it for eternity.

    People are weird.
