Hmm. I see what you mean and it's good that you explain what happens where you live and why. In a sense- stoning to death is, well, that's gotta suck. But you do the crime, you do the time.
Fair enough. The logic is: we all are brothers and sisters, and the way we would want the rapist of our real siblings/parents/spouse to be tortured, in the same way the person who rapes anybody, regardless of race, status, color or gender, should be stoned to death i.e. tortured. Of course, it sounds a bit harsh but it only means less rapists, not more.
As a survivor of mild sexual abuse, and a friend to many people who have gone through horrific sexual abuse / rape ordeals I've spent a lot of time thinking about what I would want done. One thing is I would want to infuse them [the rapist] with some sort of injection of emotion so that they could feel all the pain, suffering, humiliation, fear, disgust, torment, etc themselves, only like, a million times worse, forever. And then yes, chuck them into prison. Either way, I know a lot of sex offenders/ rapists aren't in touch with what they are putting other people through (for instance the guy who hurt me said he didnt understand why people didn't just try to enjoy it so it wasn't traumatic), I would want to make them understand exactly what pain they had inflicted, I would want their pain to be cast by themself, for them to feel the guilt, feel the pain themselves. I would want them to be the judge of their punishment, and I would want them to judge themselves harsher than my mother would (which is saying something). Sorry if that was a bit heated, hoping I didn't break any rules. *checks*
yikes, this thread is scary. if i had to give an answer (and i feel i do) i would go with the one Alice In Wonderland has just given.... ...but with more arterial spray.... ...or so i like to think. christ, i don't know. i don't know anyone who's been raped and have never been raped myself. i consider myself to be a civilised human being but i'm not sure how civilised i could be in that given situation. i certainly wouldn't be offering to make tea, i know that much. i'm going to bed. my head hurts...
I still advocate the firing squad... except instead of rifles, we use AC-130's... like... five of them... and I'm talking about the .20 mm mini-guns and the howitzer! Yeah... awesome I'm a very violent person... XD
anthraxx I think we should send all rapists and the like to your country for punishment. Stoning to death sounds great to me for those sick minded people. Though I remember a case where some guy said he wanted to be locked away because he had the strong desire to sexually assault young children and they law wouldn't help him. He had done it before and he didn't want to do it anymore, didn't want to hurt the children. He was scared of himself and the law wouldn't do anything to help him nor would the mental health facilities. So he killed himself to protect peoples children. I felt sorry for him in a way as he sought help and no one was there to help him at all. But at the same time it is a relief. I know it sounds harsh that I find it a relief, but he was sufferring so badly, emotionally and mentally and had no help like he begged for and so he ended the sufferring for himself and others. I guess some of them really do feel bad for their actions. But still, harsher punishment needs to be set in place to deter sexual offenders. To deter all crimes from happening.
Actually, Middle East is where you should send them. This law, despite of Pakistan being a Islamic state, is not implemented here. However, people don't criticize the law here. I've talked to westerners who find the law 'harsh', and in greed to gaining the title of a 'modern' country, Pakistan doesn't follow this law. Which may be just the ignorance of the fact that around 32 seconds, one women is being raped in USA, (Even worse than deaths from alcohol, which kills a person every 31 minutes) and the crime rate is highest in US.
Torana, the funny pat is, in India, it's not the rapists stoned, it's even sports players. Take the hockey team for example. For the first tiime they fail to make the Olympics and we stone their houses?? what justice. Btw......did Mikael Jackson really abuse his own child?/ I've always been curious about this.
btw, who forgave the criminal....I think it's time that person reciees a special Neha treatment......lol
Michael Jackson did hold his child over a hotel balcony... But it was other people's children he was in court for abusing. He was found not guilty, but whether he did or not is anyones guess.
Many men are raped. Many many more women than men are raped. Because many people in general are raped, it being somewhere near 1/5-1/7 women world wide I think I heard somewhere. I personally feel we should force rapists to be infected with an awful STD to deal with the rest of their short life (if they live through it). I'm partly joking, but there is some truth in it I admit.
He dd it. He got off for the same reason OJ and R. Kelly got off. He's famous. If I did the same thing any one of them did, you'd bet I'd be in prison for it.
Oh definitely. If you recorded some of the crap that Jackson and Kelly have recorded, it would be life without parole And OJ is just a moron. That book...
OJ got away with it because an LA jury chose to nullify the trial )jury nullification). They ignored the facts of the case and decided instead to try the LA police and justice departments instead. Fame certainly helped, or rather the money that fame raised that bought the lawyers who turned it into a circus.
If they are truely, truely remorseful (they almost never are) then they deserve forgiveness. Whether not its forgivable is another matter. I have no idea what I'd do. If someone did that to my sisters... there would be hell to pay.
You'd be surprised to know, that in India, rather than helping.....fame pulls one in........Sanjay Dutt was arrested under the TADA and Arms Acts, spents don't know how many years in jail, and now they say he wasn't guilty of TADA(terrorism), after making him suffer so much...........but still he's under house arrest because of the Arms Act......had it been anyone else, they would have just got a term of 7-10 years in jail!!
I think this has to be the opinion I agree with the most so far. To me, chucking somebody in prison for life just isn't enough and it would have to actually be a punishment for life - not just 20 years or 5 years then parole, i'd want the person sentenced to life inprisonment to actually die in prison. Else, what's the point? Still, I don't think this is good enough a punishment because most rapists don't feel that badly about what they've done. Whilst the victim can spend a life in therapy trying to forget, understand or just get past the events they are left most often unable to trust men, unable to have a sucessful relationship and then later family problems. Still, whilst the victim, already pained, has this to experience the agressor gets to spend the remainder of his life in a prison - which can't be as bad as what the victim has to deal with. Capital punishment is even less punishing i'd say, as mentionned before its just the easy way out. Why should we give them that? I'd want the rapist to truly suffer, maybe not physically but more emotionnally. I'd want them to be as humiliated and tortured inside as the victim, maybe more so. I would wish for them to understand what they've made the victim experience, and experience it for themselves.
