I will start posting in this thread, although I'm not hardcore like you guys. 4-day form rejection from Smokelong Quarterly but also
20-day form rejection from Lightspeed Magazine. One day I hope to finally post a smiley face here, but for now we still gotta go with 51 total now.
2 rejections in a day. One from the truly Hollywood agent who asked for a full MS on my last book. Gutted. Trying to remind myself of a recent author who said his first book like mine got close, his second was a clunker and he nearly gave up but his third was the crucial one. Got to keep on going
Finally some movement on Submittable, yeeeaaah! 63-day form rejection from Sheepshead Review, boooh! Brings me to 29.
I also heard back from Nanoism about a short story I sent in back in August. They would have accepted it if they hadn’t shut down the magazine… not sure if that counts as a rejection or not.
Correct, the editor stopped it at a thousand stories, and he didn’t see mine until after he picked his last.
59-day form rejection from Tree and Stone. Also, 3 rejections from The Evermore Review. I only found out about those when they tweeted that they had published the issue, and none of my stories were in it!
Just crickets for a couple weeks, and then I get 4 form rejections all in a single day. Maybe they set themselves a deadline for the end of the month. A 24-day form rejection from both The Journal of Compressed Creative Arts and Apex Magazine. A 71-day and 98-day rejection from agents. That makes it 55 rejections now this year. By the way, just curious about something. When a magazine rejection includes something like, "we hope to read something new from you soon," do they really mean that? Or is it just a polite part of the form letter that some publishers include and some do not?
