Well, hello, there. I'm Zelenia (or Zel, as most tend to use). I've had writer's block since about May 2004. Well, I call it writer's block, at least. In reality...I think a piece of me has gone missing. I've turned to scouring the internet, searching for where it might have gone. Certain events happened back then that made my creativity go south. The one that most affected me was the death of my best friend. She was also a fantastic writer. Far better than I. Anyway, I was so preoccupied with that, that my writing ability seems to have gradually diminished...and it has yet to surface. I used to write. All I used to do was write. Poetry, stories, fanfiction, etc. I was working on a novel for a while, too. Although, the whole story seems to have fallen apart in my mind...but, the characters still exist. In my mind, they kind of live in my own world, wondering where their world went. Anyway, I need to find some way to find myself again. I need some way to kick my butt back in gear and get back in touch with my creative side -- the side that sometimes made me think I was crazy. Because, I realize now that, that insanity is part of what had kept me sane for so long. And I don't think I can do it alone. So, I hope I can find a virtual home here. I've tried settling in many a forum, but nowhere has really stuck. This seems like a pretty active place with a good bunch of people, judging from what I've seen during my lurking sessions. I hope you all can inspire me to be reinspired. ;D Can't wait to start participating. ^.^ ~ Zel
Hi Zel, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hi Zel. Sorry to hear about your loss and your inspiration troubles. I hope you find what you're looking for here.
