I avoid NY for 2A reasons! And PA on I90 is practically blink and miss it. As I recall it is maybe 50 miles of PA between Ohio and NY.

Yep, that's about right. I-90 becomes the toll road in NY. I generally pop off the highway at the state line and take 20 unless I'm going much past Silver Creek.

I usually consider anything more than four hours a “long trip.” You are correct though that “long trips” in the USA doesn’t even get you out of state. I grew up in one corner of Pennsylvania and went to college in the middle of the state, it was about a 4 hour drive

I used to drive from NJ to NC for vacation. It was about a 10 hour trip. That’s the longest most people would go, if I had to go over a thousand miles, I’ll fly.

Were a lot bigger. I think France is the largest country in Europe and we have a dozen or so states larger than it? Most Americans would likely consider any location in Europe “driving distance” to any other location in Europe. You can drive from Estonia to Spain in like a day, right? It’s takes about 3 solid days to cross our continent.

Yeah, and that's exactly what warps my perception of these distances.
I can pretend European countries are basically just like States, but when everybody starts speaking different languages every few hours you kinda feel like you drove pretty far.
