I try to hit Short Stories, Novels, and Poetry about equally, even though I'm nowhere near as comfortable with poetry. I know I shortchange Song Lyrics and Scripts and Screenplays, because those are definitely even weaker areas for me that I also cannot generate much enthusiasm for. But I'll try to give them at least some attention.

Poetry takes less time to read, but one reading is never enough for a poetry critique. Short stories and novels may require multiple read thoughs, but much of what you need to critique will be apparent after the first reading, unlike poetry.

Unfortunately, a significant number of poems take much longer to critique than they did to write.
