    I don't often respond in these threads, but Anne was my very introduction to science fiction and fantasy with her Pern novels. I still have the very copies, battered and torn, that were bought for me when I was 8 or 9. May she ride dragons of gold and bronze in the next life. [​IMG]

    Awww, that's a shame. I've not heard of her, or read her works, but it's always a shame to lose a fellow scribbler.

    Really? You need to read some good Pernography. Her dragonriders of Pern novels are a delightful blend of science fiction and fantasy.

    They are, and as regards the oft asked question of fantasy without magic, her books are some of the better examples. ;)
