Rockers unite, I need song recs!

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Mallory, Feb 21, 2011.

    Hey,

Calling all rock fans of the world

I'm looking for some good hard rock songs that are about justice/fighting -- you know, the kind of song you blast to pump up for a competition or something. Songs like "T.R.I.C." by Otep, "Justice" by Rev Theory, "Hell" by Disturbed, "Thoughtless" by Evanescence/Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Anyone have any good recs? Thanks!

I could go on forever and end up writing a book about different tracks or artists you could listen to so I'll be a chum and just throw out a few for you. Slayer, Hatebreed, High on fire- Rumors of war, Mogwai - Batcat, Nine inch nails, Deftones - "Passenger" ft. Maynard James Keenan from Tool, Mastodon, Year of no light- Persephone , Electric Wizard- I the witchfinder, ISIS and Cult of Luna. There are maaaaaaany many more but check out those dudes and you should be happy, hope they help :)

    Aneurysm by Nirvana

The Descendents have a lot of 'justice' songs (m16, statue of liberty, suburban home)

Fools Want Noise by Oh My God (check these guys out!)

Touch Me I'm Sick by Mudhoney is pretty stinkin awesome

Maxwell Murder, Young Al Capone, and Dead Bodies by Rancid are all pretty angry punk rock songs

and anything by Skindred or Pantera just rocks my socks off.

    Hope this helps!

Trapt's 'Headstrong' and 12 Stones 'We are one' are really good ones imo.

There's always '...And Justice For All' by Metallica, but then you'd have to listen to Metallica.

Some old Rage Against The Machine is fun, early The Offspring (Ignition through Ixnay on the Hombre, everything after is garbage) some Coheed and Cambria might work- especially In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3, and both of the Good Apollo albums have songs that should work (Welcome Home, The Willing Well, No World For Tomorrow, Gravemakers & Gunslingers), if you can deal with the vocals the Dark Tranquility album 'Character' is pretty much perfect. Finally, Queensryche- Operation: Mindcrime. Which is something everyone should listen to anyway.

Also, I see 'Valhalla Waits Me,' and raise you 'With Oden On Our Side.' The battle is already won.

If you like over the edge cheesy powermetal you can't beat "By any means necessary" by Hammerfall. ... And when I pretty much think of it all of Hammerfall can be summarized with justice and fighting.

    Bah, how could I forget?

Both 'Ties that Bind' and 'Come to Life' by Alterbridge. Probably exactly what you're looking for.

Revolution by the Beatles could work. It's got a nice edge to it, and it's one of my favorite songs. :)
