I did have one idea for a good RPG, but I was wondering about a few specifics. So, here goes. Back in the day, I did RPG's based around events and stories that were already established (a Star Wars became very active), and I was wondering if I did one that was based around the mythos of the Green Lantern Corps, would anyone be interested (or capable of playing if I gave out a very detailed run around)? The idea would be a side story to a major DC Event that surrounded many other characters within the DC Universe (IE: if I related it to 2010 DC Event "Blackest Night", then Batman (Dick Grayson) could make an appearance, because he was directly correlated with the event.) Is it a few off idea, because of the amount of stuff I would have to lay out and the dedication of the other players, or is it probably not worth it? The difference between my last games and now are who I was playing with at the time, so I wanted to check.

 

So would this be something where the players choose a DC hero/character and play as them? I dunno if I'd be into that first b/c I'm more of a Marvel kind of guy (Aquaman? Really? What kind of an idea is that?) and second b/c it doesn't seem like it would allow a lot of character development.

I don't know if any of you remember, but I ran an RPG here once called Legend of the Crystal Flames. It was a couple years ago and never got to far along plotwise. I was hoping to print out what we did get and use it as inspiration for a tabletop RPG I'm working on, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Were all the old RPGs deleted?

 

Hey Dustin, I noticed nobody replied to you yet. I think they were deleted. I don't know why - they should've been put in the archive!

 

Sad day. There were a number of good RPGs there, and it's a shame to lose them.

 

It is a shame... I liked Crystal Flames! And I didn't know there was a post from you here! And I may not be able to print it out for you, but I can definitely help you remember anything about it that you forgot!

In light of my recently closed RPG, I've been planning a new one, and trying to figure out how to make it better. (I really want to get better at GMing.) I have developed a new story, and now am wondering if anyone would be interested?

 

What's the story like Earphone - like, the setting/genre?

 

We'd need to know more about the plot to know if we'd be interested or not.

 

Oh shoot, yeah sorry that completely slipped my mind. It's kind of like the Middle Ages in setting, and of course, fantasy. I'm thinking maybe I should just open a discussion thread and put the plot there.

 

Looking through my PM archive, I found some stuff from Heart of Star. I miss that game. I don't suppose there's any chance it will ever be resumed/completed, is there?

 

Yeah, I've been tempted to restart it... maybe once the current games I'm involved in settle down... Its encouraging to hear that you were enjoying it though

 

I was too Hawken! But if you restart, I would like to make a different character!

 

If I restart I think we all would. I wonder would it be better to start over from the beginning again? Or just to generate new characters from where we left off??

I for one would want to reuse my old character. However, I don't mind starting over if the game ever resurfaces.

I'm new here, but would love to join in on one of the Role Plays. Though, I don't know which one to join. I'm not sure if I should just jump in...was wondering if you all have any suggestions?

I also would love to see an animal themed role-play with no humans. That would be cool!

Welcome! I think the RPGs currently running are kind of full for the moment, unless you'd be willing to take over an 'abandoned' character in mine, or if Earphone lets you make one for his.

Also, when you say animal-themed, were you thinking something kind of like the Redwall series?

Yes, an animal-themed RPG along the lines of something like Redwall would be awesome! Any kind of role-play with an animal-type world (Wolves, birds, ect.) would be fun.

 

If you're still there Jess, you could join the STALKER: Call of the Zone RPG. It's only a couple of days old and we are still getting people settled in for the most part.

 

Hi JessWrite, that is indeed a great idea, I would love to play an animal themed RPG. Also, if you'd like, I could let you make a character for my RPG, seeing as how several writers dropped out. I don't think it'd be too hard to catch up/ meet up with the others.

I've been on these forums for almost four years and I've never felt particularly attracted to RPGs—that is, until now.
I'm a bit at a loss as to how this works, though. Do I need to join an RPG before it starts or can I just jump in? If anyone can introduce me to this aspect of WritingForums, I would greatly appreciate it.
