I am sincerely going to try to not let my game die. Seeing as how often I am online here, I think I actually stand a fair chance of maintaining the game properly. The only two reasons games die is either because the GM loses inspiration/isn't on often -> doesn't post on a regular basis. Or, if the players participating in the game get over committed, and decide to either stop posting or leave the game... I can take care of the GM part, I think. As for the players, well, that's not within my control. So yea, this will be a challenge, particularly because activity has been...strange..as of late. But we'll see.
lol, you and i remain the only constants in this shifting tide of players and Game masters why do i feel like a Zen master all of a sudden?
Thought I'd give you guys a laugh. Proofreading is a dying art, wouldn't you say? Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day. Thanks Mac, to my knowledge this hasn't happened to us yet, but please PM me if anything weird happens!
To all my RP peeps, especially those who have encouraged and supported me, You are cordially invited to the virtual launch party of our anthology! http://jaurelguay.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/2-days-to-go-beware/
I had an idea for another role play but I wanted to do an interest check before I worked to much on it. The story would be set in the Mass Effect Universe, 45,000 years after the Reaper Invasion. All species playable. 300 stasis pods with live protheans were found on Eden Prime just a few years after the Invasion. The Hanar took the Protheans in and under their care the once extinct race exploded in number so now, 45,000 years later, their numbers are in the millions. The Conflict: Protheans believe in an order where all races are subjects of the Prothean Empire, forget the free will/having a council stuff. And since Shepard took control of the Reapers (in this version) rather than destroying them...they fear the Reapers will return. And unless the entire galaxy is untied under Prothean rule...they have no hope of winning. This is a very, very rough draft of my idea. Thoughts? Would you be interested in a Mass Effect(ish) role-play or no?
Can't refuse to play that, can I? It also gives me a reason to get back to gaming after a long time of... well, not gaming.
I have an idea for an fps/rpg kind of game which is based in they future, year 2241, in Las Vegas or another big city. At the moment it is just a basic idea so any additions/changes you want to make just say and I can look into it. First of all the main plot of the story is for you to play a character called Danny who has an average salary, a friend (will get into that later) and the main idea is he wants more money because he is a failed student with no girlfriend and not very likeable. The game is anticipated to be free roam and you can get around by using cars, hover bikes, regular bikes or any other form of transport. You have to go around to find jobs to get money in gangs or in crime groups because they offer a lot of money. However the gangs will ask you to do things for then and if you end up working for two rival gangs tensions can get high resulting in you having to either kill a gang boss or somehow leave the group unharmed. If you don't want to do this then there are lots of other activities you can do in the world like buying new accessories or apartments with money you earned or doing mini games involved in the game. The world is inhabited by not only humans but cyborg slaves/butlers as you can call them. These robots can either be butlers from rich people down to garbage collectors and your character is involved with 1 who works cleaning his flat. These robots are harmless and peaceful but later in the game when you begin to upset the robots, their eyes turn from blue to orangey red and then they have the urgency to get rid of you (kill you) because their job is to destroy all problems. Your friend is black, same height as you and male however no name has been thought for him yet and he was a cleaner for your old school, where you met. He is a few years older than Danny (24-26) and is very friendly and supportive of all choices you am make. I can add more but already it is a chunk of text so any feedback/creative ideas or criticism is accepted as long as its justified! Thanks for reading!
There are a few flaws in this idea. Let's start by saying that the roleplay section is for literary RP only and this idea won't work for that for a couple of reasons: First off; for an RP to be interesting, or even playable, every player needs an own character, one fixed character for eveyone won't work, unless you're playing only with the GM and one other person. Secondly: while payment and transport will be mentioned in RPs they are usually no big deal; you'll have money (or not) as the character lives his/her daily life, if you'll need money for anything in the RP game at all. Whether a character has access to this is up to the person who plays the character. RPs are usually made of fixed events that follow each other up, usually events on a bigger scale that influence a city, a country or even an entire world, this will be a guideline for the players. Free roaming and doing whatever you feel like in a more or less regular future city won't work, because it will get boring rather quickly, especially if there are as many restrictions as you have planned in this. Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying this is a bad idea. It's just an idea that won't work as a literary RP, it's more of a video game summary. If that's what you wish to make of it you should write it out as a script and post it in the workshop section (after 2 weeks of membership, 20 posts and 2 constructive criticisms on other people's pieces), if you wish to GM your own RP here I suggest you join another RP first, so you learn how they work and so you get to know the other people in the RP section. If you want to join an RP here I suggest joining the RP Experiments, because it just started out, my own RP is still open to new characters too, or maybe you can work something out with the GM of another game. If you don't want to join, then... you just don't, I suppose.
Hey, peeps, I'm gonna throw my hat in the RP rink. It's been like.. 2-3 years since I RPed and wouldn't mind getting back into it with some solid peeps. So, I'ma just shoot the breeze, see what happens. For those in the know how, please enjoy the inspiration derived from Bleach, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy X. Someone once told me this sounds a bit like Persona. Never watched/read/played it. If you're interested, please let me know Into the Light The Story Overview Mankind, since his very conception, has lived parallel to a world that he was blind to. In Reality, he lives through emotions and releases both joy and anger. Joy empowers humans, giving them strength, happiness, and love. When anger is felt, it slowly consumes him. Therefor, to save himself, man expresses his anger and lets it out. From there, monsters are born. Parallel to Reality exists a second plane known as the Reflection where the Reflected live. The Reflected are shadowy creatures born from released negativity from humans. Completely natural and harmless in concept, they go to Reality to feed on man's strength, mentality, and soul. They never cause any permanent or real harm. At worst, a random mood swing. From there, they grow bigger and stronger, and simply exist until they reach their final stage of life where they turn human. Normally invisible to humans, the Reflected can only be seen directly after having air blown directly into the eyes. If the eye then focuses on a Reflected, the human will always be able to see them. Often, humans catch momentary glimpses of shadows in the mirror or in the corner of their eyes and attribute it to their mind playing tricks. However, something has begun to artificially create and subjugate the Reflected. Humans are slowly drained to death by the creatures. Some are simply torn apart violently. Thankfully, a secret organization is ready to defend mankind in its hour of need. Though, it is a loosing fight. Initial Stage All players will begin in the starting city or its direct surroundings in the middle of the first ever attack by the Reflected. Players will be able to decide if they happen to accidentally begin seeing the Reflected or if they will simply break for it and try to survive the invisible onslaught. The primary goal will be to escape and find safety before the city is overrun and destroyed. The city will not be saveable (Though, good luck if you want to try) From there, the story will continue and progress to find out the source of the attacks and dealing with it. Or joining it, whatever floats the proverbial boat. Characters Players Characters will be regular humans. No fantasy races or super powers. As you learn HOW to fight the Reflected, I, the GM, will distribute powers through PMs based on your character and what you want. You won't get exactly what you want unless it's exactly in line with the lore and whatnot but you will have something you will like and enjoy. NPCs Monsters will be controlled by the GM (Unless RPed through PMs to organize stuff) All NPCs will be controlled by the GM as well to move the story along accordingly. Posting There will be no "post order" unless a player is busy interacting with another player and has little choice but to do so. I, the GM, will move the story along with narrative and events anytime I see fit. So, let's not plant our feet too deep in the ground. I'll morph the story accordingly to player choices and give them breathing room to interact and have fun but it will be, hopefully, fast paced and filled with fun action. ____________________________________________ So, there's more lore and information to read but this is the basic gist of my RP idea. Please, post here or PM me if interested at all.
Eh, this isn't an RP based forum so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't as fast as some of the old places I used to frequent.
