Hey @Cadavar, there's really no Right way to put together a history. The key is just making sure that you know it well enough to be consistent in your writing, and then carefully revealing it in your story so that it seems natural and not like an info dump. If done properly it can be an added Hook to the reader, as was done in 'The City of Ember'. Some people write it out, or outline it. I tend to keep it all in my head, which may or may not be a good idea. While this is the best part of the forum it isn't the best part to find answers to these questions. Try posting here too for more ideas and thoughts: https://www.writingforums.org/setting-development/
Okay. I have finally found the home of my newest character. And she's not human, nor animal. She's made of gelatin.
lol -my science teacher got to me. Now i am making a creature -which in all seriousness- is made of a substance like gelatin -but it's more like space mud. "Eve" is a creature that feeds off of ice and minerals on asteroids, and to get technical (or should i say atomical?) she actually survives off of splitting the atoms into oxygen and hydrogen -the other minerals giving her her colors as well as some degree of powers. Hydrogen she gets energy from -oxygen she "breathes" with. In all, she's actually quite small (about the size of a pea if you dehydrated her), but her body swells with the amount of water she consumes from each asteroid (she prefers to be about the size of a human being). So she's pretty much a space mermaid in appearance, at least in my mind. However, since she is like gelatin, she can change form to mimic others. any questions? XD
Hey RP friends! Give me a hand and help me choose which novel to work on this year. Pretty please 0 https://www.writingforums.org/entry/which-novel-shall-i-write.62555/
hmm... despite the option of fantasy in there i would vote for Overtone actually -I've never seen a book with that kind of scenario.
I'm sticking with the crowd and saying overtone as well, reminds me of two books I've just read. I'd be interested in seeing the finished product.
Etiquette question: If a GM starts a game, but hasn't been to the site in weeks, at what point are the players allowed to nominate a new GM? On a closely related side note: could somebody get in trouble for posting in an RP without an absent GM showing up to approve the character?
Unless the original GM gives the say so we don't normally nominate a new GM. The game just dies and we move on to the next one.
Orb is always open and great for newbs. Any other GMs taking on new players? @Kingtype, @Keitsumah, @Fan7asticMrFox , @Exzalia, @A.M.P. ?
@Macaberz has taken over my role as GM in Scrolls of Iria, so if you are interested in that game I would get in contact with him. Orb of Pyritus is a good place to start if you are new to role playing, you have the freedom to be as creative as you want with very little restriction.
I'll take a look at it and see what I can come up with. This might be good for practicing some writing (I'm rusty and I always write on paper first ).
Getting a character in the situation i have put the other in now would be a tad tricky... but i am not creative for nothing.
