Sooo, I was thinking of either a fantasy game about pirates looking for a lost treasure, or a game about a kingdom with a police force made up of powerful wizards... Which one sounds more interesting?
Yarr, I'm up for adventures on the high seas. As for the wizards idea, it depends on how magic works.
When I started typing out the magic system for the wizard police game, it got kinda long...lol. So I made it really simple. Each wizard will make a list of five spells that their wizard can cast. Before each fight or challenge, you will choose three spells from your list, post those three spells on the discussion thread, and during that specific fight you can only use those three spells. You can also only cast one spell per post. This way, you have to chose wisely depending on the challenge. Some wizards might be rendered useless, for instance: if you're fighting on a flimsy wooden bridge and someone has three spells that have to do with making fire. That person would only be able to fight with their hands or a weapon, or else they would set the bridge on fire. I thought that would be interesting. There would also be magic in the pirates roleplay, by the way. In their world, magic is very common, although not many people are very good at it. (Most people know one or two little spells, like making a candle light or healing small cuts, but true sorcerers and witches can do almost anything with magic.) I was thinking that, along with having a few weapons, each character could have one magical item or one spell that they learned, and you would have to explain in detail exactly what your item/spell can do, what are its limits, etc etc.
Which one are you up for, the pirates or the wizards? I'm on the fence. I like both ideas equally, tbh.
I wouldn't mind either, but I think the pirate one looks like it'd be more fun. I'd love to play a smooth-talking, womanizing, swashbuckling thief, who relies on gadgets and guile to swindle his way out of any situation.
I have an idea for a Star Wars roleplay, in honor of the new movie...but it would be in the past, before all the events in the Star Wars movies took place. Would anyone be interested in that?
Old Republic. My other idea was a witches vs sorcerers thing. Sorcerers have been oppressing witches for years, most witches are too afraid to fight back, and a small group of witches decide to steal some powerful spells and take down the Sorcerer King before he takes over the world.
I'm interested. My only questions are what is the story setup and can I play a Grey Jedi / former-Sith-stepping-back-into-the-Light, LOL. When I first read your post, I was only mildly interested, but now I've got this character stuck in my head and it's been percolating for days and I'm getting more and more into it.
I'd hope we have some flexibility with our characters, both if they're from the empire or republic or neither, or Jedi or Sith, or anything that lies between. Admittedly it might make the plot a bit more complicated.
I'm definitely interested in a Star Wars roleplay. I also remember seeing one listed in the archives called Fall of the Jedi, except that that one was after the films instead of before. Would we have to take events taking place in KotOR I & II and/or comics into consideration, or could we be oblivious to that kind of stuff?
I'm thinking of starting a roleplay in maybe a month or so. It would be set on a continent, and there would be two different sides in a massive conflict across a continent. One could join either side, and both sides would be completely different and have pros and cons. There would be an overarching plot and major characters, but decisions of other characters could influence the outcome of skirmishes/battles in ways that could influence the ending of the roleplay. Would anybody be interested in something like that?
I am in need of some players for this RP. It's called The Evorean Wars. STORY The year is 2100, 20 years after the first Evorean invasion of Earth. A small portion of the Populace has survived and the UCDOGS are desperately searching for their only hope: Ray Hanuro. Ray Hanuro lead the initial defence forces against the Evoreans. He was last seen in the Evorean Headquarters in 2082. He has disappeared. The UCDOGS has hired several Mercenaries to search for Ray in the ruins of Earth. Led by Felix, one of Ray's associates. Gilligan Snowden, CEO of UCDOGS, hopes that Felix and his band of Mercenaries successfully find Ray and drive the Evoreans away from Earth. PLOT The PC's are tasked with searching the Earth for Ray Hanuro and destroying any Evorean bases they may encounter. COMBAT Combat is done with a dice (Yes, a dice). When the party attacks, a dice is rolled. If it lands 1-3, the group miss the enemy. If 4-6, the group have attacked successfully. It is rolled again. 1-3, it damages the armour. 4-6, armour protects the enemy. The same is done when an enemy attacks. Most characters (NPC's and PC's alike) have armour. Each character takes turns to attack an enemy. Armour can be found scattered in ruins or bought from Traders. LANDSCAPE The Group begins in UCDOGS HQ in Zagreb, Croatia. The Earth is covered in Radiation and rubble from the Evorean attacks. Most of the world is also irradiated. Water is not consumable. Food is scarce. I would join for the heck of it. Seems cool enough. However, I did notice that your first three posts were here. I would suggest joining some other RPs in order to get a feel for roleplaying first, though.
