I'd love to join!
He's been gone a couple months, and last I spoke with him, he said he didn't have time for it. Sorry.
If you want to start your own, there will probably be a few interested parties, including myself. Let me know if you do!
Hmm... I've done roleplay before, but not through this site. Do you know of any ongoing ones I could join to get a feel for how it's done here?
Dead page, sorry. The last two I kept going for a while, but the other users disappeared. Sorry. You could read a few on here, it's play-by-post, and you can check out the rules. Otherwise not much here unless you start something. I'll be around if you need a player.
Avatar: the Last Airbender RPG
The Story: Rumor has it that the Avatar has finally returned after a hundred years of disappearance but the war still wages on. Even if true, there are still battles to be fought, people to save or to lose. It is said that destiny is inevitable, but like the clouds it can be shaped into our own destiny.
Plot Opening: You will start in a town in the middle of the Earth Kingdom a little before the start of the series. Through trial and tribulation you will explore the Avatar world and help put an end to some misery and, depending on how far the group gets, might even have a huge hand in helping end the war.
Follow the forum’s rules.
GM’s word is law.
Do not control the other players’ characters or any original characters.
No sex/Minimal cussing. (Saying airholes, fudge, or bleeding hog monkeys is perfectly fine and encouraged.)
All characters must be approved by the GM.
All Out of Character talk will have to be taken to the discussion thread.
Always post at least a paragraph (five sentences) or more. No less.
Play your character as you put them. Don’t decide between now and the game to change things up.
No multiple characters.
No god-modding. No trying to haggle the rules, like ‘Well, technically ice is a rock so as an earthbender I should…’ kind of stuff. Let’s try to keep the powers to what’s in the show.
This RPG will run in parallel with the series and all the original characters (Aang, Katara, Sokka, etc.) will be controlled by the GM but you’ll meet them when you meet them. If you figure out where we are in the Earth Kingdom and figure out the Gaang are arriving the next town over for an episode, then you can’t force the party to go there. There’s a chance you might never meet them and that’s okay.
Depending on your stats, you might be an okay bender or you might be an above average bender but that’ll depend on the difficulty of the challenge you’re facing. Don’t ever say you pulled off a successful maneuver even if your stats are high because that’s relative to the difficulty you’re facing.
Name: (last name optional)
Nationality: Fire Nation (Proper Fire Nation or the colonies?), Earth Kingdom (Where from?), Water Tribe (Southern or Northern?), Mixed (Where were you raised?)
Bender or Non-bender?
If mixed, state what kind of bender. (Note: Cannot be a southern water tribe bender unless properly explained in your bio.)
Non-bender: What is your weapon of choice? Choose 2. (Ex. Fans, swords, knives, chi blocking, etc.)
Biography/Background: (The more detailed, the better. Min. One paragraph.)
What your character is doing in a small Earth Kingdom town:
Profession, (if they have any):
Possessions: (Does your character have light, medium, or heavy armor? Do they have rope? Spark rocks? A memento from home? A sleeping bag? Your character starts with 5 gold pieces. You can have 10 possessions, anything more than that and you lose a gold coin for each item until it reaches zero.)
(Currency: 1 gold piece = 10 silver pieces = 100 copper pieces.)
(Only three). What the character is good at: (Ex. Keen strategist, (non-bending) healing, history nerd, nature survivalist, good swimmer, haggling)
(Only three). What the character is bad at: (Ex. Cooking, clumsy, navigation, etc.)
You have 68 points to spend in between these 6 traits. 20 is the highest you can go in one trait and 10 is considered the average. Do not leave any of these 0.
Training (How trained you are in your bending/weapons.)
You can choose multiple setbacks. Each setback will allow you to either
a) add an extra 2 points to a trait of your choosing
b) give you three more coins to start with
c) give you two more skills to be good at
D) give you another weapon of choice. (For benders, this is the only way you can have a weapon.)
E) If bender: you choose two setbacks and A-D don’t sound appealing, you can learn a specialized form of your bending.
List of Setbacks (Max. three)
The war has taken its toll on you and you've seen too much. You suffer from nightmares and bouts of paranoia that can lead to panic attacks.Arm Injury that never healed right
You've been injured in your arm when you were younger and it hasn't quite healed right.Leg Injury that never healed right
You've been injured in your leg when you were younger and it hasn't quite healed right.Destitute (Start the game with no money and only 7 possessions).

You've committed a crime in another town and now you're on the run. You have to be careful to lay low or else be thrown into jail or worse.
You can make your own setback but must be approved by GM first.
(If you choose a/multiple setbacks, please include in your bio how you got the setback or the extent of the severity, etc.)
List of specialized bendings:
Bloodbending (only during full moons) (Costs three setbacks)Earthbending:
Metalbending (costs three setbacks)Firebending:
Combustion (costs three setbacks)
((This is my first time doing anything like this. I'm just checking how many people will be interested, if you think I need to workshop this more, etc.))
@Lili.A.Pemberton please add more to the plot and background to give the players who don't know avatar too well a better grounding. Otherwise, excellent character sheets! After editing, please create a thread in the main section for the RPG and a thread in the discussion with similar title. I'll approve it when that happens.
Age of Dissolution
During the Age of Dissolution, world known as Nemurrak is an instance of Milky Way galaxy in far far far far far away future, where everything depends on the power Golden Heart, an entity, device, natural phenomenon, who knows, that allows for manipulation of reality. This has shattered whole galaxy and turned it into a colorful
wild-west/synthwave/neon/cyberpunk/biomechanoid/eldritch/psychedelic/fantasy world. While technology is still highly realistic (relative term, but we try to obey the basic laws of physics and not to go over the top THAT much, just a little bit. Similar to slightly toned down 40k), magic and supernatural (here called meta-reality) powers are still available thanks to the Golden Heart and also because of a place known as the Wasteland, which is a local version of hell, but different. Long story short, it is a fantasy in sci-fi settings with many unique twists and I have about 48 pages worth of detail-less rough settings to provide to anyone interested. I would describe it as medieval Mass Effect with WH40K, LotR, Trine, Dark Souls and many many more slapped together, bent and twisted in order to make an interesting blend.
This is only a quick description made to probe the waters, to check if anyone would be interested in this setting or not.
Those are a lot of descriptions that cover a lot of area. I'm interested, but I think you may want to narrow down a descriptive focus rather than a Hell of a lot of tags likening it to other things. Those tags already cover some serious ground on their own.
Thing is, it is incredibly hard to narrow down, because it has bits and pieces from everything. I could say that it is planar type of universe (how it is achieved would take a bit more of the space), with advanced technology, genetics and sentient machines, while mostly retaining the medieval feel except for some exceptions. Neon/synthwave/cyberpunk is there to add the style, it is going for the 80s aesthetics with a wild looking designs and bright neon colors.
But I think narrowing is not needed, it tells you all what Nemurrak offers and the rp would for example take place in a particular area, where some elements of the universe are more present than the others. But truth be told, it is wild and it is big, that is why those 49 pages are still highly general. I am not sure what is the policy in this area, if I am allowed to post at least the introductory part or if I am to rather send them personally. For those who are interested at least.
Is there a possibility to create the discussion thread in advance, where this conversation could be developed on greater scale? I wouldn't want to slag this place way too much, that is why limited my description to those mere tags.
Imagine: the world is much as it was before. Bustling towns and cities, people out shopping and socializing, working to support their families and their territories. That’s what they call them now as a whole, “territories”. There are quite a few out there, scattered across the lands. The leaders of the past recognized the ultimate threat to civilization: a lack of resources. Mandates were put into place, huge walls were erected around already existing cities and suburbs, and the world managed to carry on. What we once new as countries has all but dissolved. We still have elected government officials for our territories, who work with and communicate with other LoTs (Leaders of Territories) to help ensure trade and public order. It’s basically the same from the past, as far as I can tell from the history books. The only thing is, you are not allowed to travel outside of Territories leisurely…for your safety, of course. And who would want to? We have everything we could ever possibly need.
This is, as you may have gathered, a dystopia sort of RPG. I had a crazy dream a long time ago, and it was so incredibly detailed that I had to write it down. Sort of a Divergent, Hunger Games feel, but with it’s own unique storyline, and without the “factions” and their set personalities. This is meant to feel real-life, and to -start- (heh heh) very normal. Nothing super unusual other than being closed up in a city (imagine Attack on Titan like, but modern). I intentionally am not giving out more details of what my ideas are, for obvious reasons. I want the players to feel immersed and surprised at what’s to come.
I have some events already planned/mapped out, and ideas on how to guide the group to/through them. However, as with many RPGs, this is a WIP. It’s one idea I have to make into a novel one day, and thought it would be great fun to get ideas and flesh out some details by doing this.
Ideally I would like a group of 2-4 additional people (myself not included). I will be running my own character along with NPCs. Would anyone be interested in playing something like this? I do expect decent writing/grammar. You don’t have to be perfect, I certainly am not, but I do ask for some effort. I like detail, and length. That being said, I prefer quality over quantity (please don’t long wind me like Dickens. Nobody is getting paid per word here )
Sounds interesting, but try to give a little more solid ground when you put up the initial RPG post. I saw that you've done these before, so I'm sure you'll realistically have no problem with an initial post and character sheet.
I'll play for sure, and I think there's a few others floating around who would like to at the moment as well.
Feel free to write up an initial thread for the main RPG section with a character sheet that fits the needs of the RPG. Also, create a RPG Discussion thread under near the same title for out-of-character communication such as character sheets, just so the main thread isn't cluttered.
I look forward to seeing it get off the ground!
Excellent! I just finished with all my OOC material. I'll start with an OOC thread prior to creating the official RP if that's alright. I don't usually put one up until I have all my players ready to go. Thanks for the interest! I look forward to seeing you in the thread
~ Fallen ~
~ The Story ~
There has been a strike against humanity. Some unidentified terrorist group has risen and released a dangerous gas that when inhaled turns the host into a form of zombie. It has spread like wildfire causing entire populations to turn. But wait, there are few that are naturally immune to the toxin. These individuals are recruited into the military (or what’s left of it) to fight back. It’s a war to save what is left of the human race.
~ The Roles ~
The Unknown – The terrorists responsible for releasing the dangerous toxin. The leader is extremely protected at all times, but people know who are followers in this group.
Symbol – skull, and crossbones.
The Walkers – The zombie-like humans. Though they are somewhat still human, their skin is oozing and basically slowly decaying. They live off of flesh, preferably human, but any will do. They are savage and sadistic.
Symbol – Their smell
The Humans – They are what’s left of the human race. They are normal everyday people now struggling to keep their humanity.
Symbol – Blue
The Immunes – The ones recruited. They are mostly on the younger side and are trained to fight back at a military base where they also live from now on.
Symbol – Mandatory tattoo on the left wrist
The Inhumans – There isn’t a lot of information on them, mostly because no one knows too much about them except that they are walkers that still look human to blend in with the real humans.
Symbol – None
~ The Rules ~
No God-Modding – You should already know what this means
Be Respectful – Don't be an asshole
Forum Rules Apply – We all know what they are
Cursing Allowed – Just don’t get carried away
Actively Participate – I understand that life can and will get in the way. You can be absent from RPG for no more than 3 days. After a week, your character will automatically become GM’s and GM will PM you. If 2 weeks go by, then you will be asked to leave the RPG.
Be Creative and Have Fun – RPG's are supposed to be fun so enjoy yourself
NO ONE LINERS – This will not be tolerated. The minimum is one paragraph (five sentences) but I encourage you to do more than that. With that, also try to use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. Mistakes are fine ~ No worries.
~ Character Sheet ~
Gender: (Pronoun as well)
Appearance: (written, not a picture)
Note: This is a WIP and hopefully, it will get approved. Again WIP ~ I will add to it.
Our Strange Town
On name and first impressions alone, the town may seem like it's the ideal slice of Americana. White picket fences border well maintained front yards, the ice cream parlor is filled with local teenagers and the drive-in theatre is still open for business.
Beneath the surface however, the town has a corrupt and seedy underbelly. Smugglers, swindlers and ner' do wells have their own agendas and if you care to look a little harder, you'll see that something isn't quite right in Hopefield.
The average citizen may even acknowledge it, every town has its share of mystery and urban legend after all, but there's something beneath Hopefield's facade that is getting harder to ignore.
Hauntings, spectres in the night, creatures in the woods and unexplained disappearances have almost become a fact of life in Hopefield.
Rachel Porter; journalist, author, would-be amateur detective and Hopefield native has a keener interest in these stories than most. A sceptic of anything remotely paranormal, she has now taken matters into her own hands and decided to get to the bottom of the Hopefield Mysteries.
Despite the abundance of ghosts, creatures and the occassional old man in a Halloween costume, this is a relatively lighthearted rp,.
I'm looking for players to fill other parts with me. Any and all character ideas are welcome.
I am a reasonably literate writer and would prefer applications to be of a similar standard with decent spelling and grammar.
Hopefully this gets some interest as I think the setting has a lot of potential.
I'm interested, but you're going to have to give a bit more details on the characters you would like to fill and how you would like the players to move forward with the plot. Also, might want to pin down the genre. It sounds like you have a lot of horror elements, but then are veering somewhere else. Just let me know.
Mass war simulation has become an international sport, with the players becoming soldiers, seamen and aviators engaging in highly realistic combat. Dubbed “War Theatre”, it is seen as an alternative to mandatory military service. War Theatre has become extremely popular in recent years, with thousands attending face-to-face events and millions more tuning in to livestreams of battles. For many boys (and girls), it has become a common dream to become a player in the field of simulated war that makes up War Theatre.
Everyone knows no lives are lost in the game. So do you, young cadet. You're a student, enrolled in Seal Bay International Academy, a boarding school in the floating city of New Iris, freshly initiated into SBIA's prestigious War Theatre team and aching for a taste of combat. You have no idea what the experience will bring, but you've already put your name on that sign-up sheet. No looking back now!
Team Branches Available!:
Since War Theatre is based loosely on an actual IRL military, there are 3 branches available to players. You can only pick one.
RPG GAME RULES:
No Godmodding: This is already a basic thing. We do want skill in our games but being too skilled makes it unfair to everyone else.
Be A Good Sport: Don't be a dick. It'll make the experience better for me, you and everyone else involved.
Keep it PG: No sex or erotic scenes (Your characters are kids!). Please note that occasional swearing is fine.
Try to stay active: Please try to stay commited. Daily posts are encouraged! The limit is one week to post something. If you're really busy and are gonna be gone for longer, PM me to let me know and we'll settle things out for your character until you come back.
1 Character Per Player: Each player can only control 1 character. A change in character at any time in the story is alright. PM me if you wanna change and we'll sort things out.
Write At Least a Single Paragraph Per Entry: No one-liners or chat RP. We're all here to practice prose.
And lastly, HAVE FUN!
Age (Limited to ages 12-18.):
Branch: State the branch you're in.
Bio: Who are you? Have you participated in War Theatre before? If so, what do you already specialise in? What are your goals
This was based on a short story I wrote. I just wanted to try it out as a RP because I thought it fit.
I may come back and edit this since this is also a WIP.
Sounds interesting enough. I know there are some sci fi RPGers around. I'll join, and I bet you could get a few interested others. These training starting ones tend to do the best because the coming-of-age aspect allows for a more playful and forgiving character generation.
Are there any active RPGs? I would like to join one but also had an idea for one in mind
Start one. I'll join. Once RPGs get going, they tend to attract more.
Okay I'll post a little about it here in the kickstarter before I get to the OOC since it's a WIP
I'll definitely join....or should I just start my own since this post is so old? Lol
I mean, I have my own roleplay that I posted, anyone can join there if ya want.
Yeah my personal life got in the way of my time being on the forum but I will most likely be posting one soon
Here, Here! I finally am able to post my RPG idea!!!!!
Introduction: It all started with the shadows... The dark forms upon the ground twitch or flicker, distorting the silhouette of the person or object that cast them, but only for a split second. Anyone who noticed thought they were imagining it or it was a trick of the light. When the shadows moved by themselves, everyone wished they were crazy, that they really were seeing things. The reality was much worse. The demons had arrived, crawling up from their murky home and clawing their way into our world. But the darkness would hold them. Time and time again it would hold them. Most believe that the light is where good things are. That’s because the darkness played its role. The demons’ claws and tears, desperation guiding them. But the darkness is a blanket that cannot be shaken easily. And yet somehow, the demons had found away to get out of the darkness, a way into our world where their only goal is to torment and possess the living, desperately seeking to live once again.
As you could probably gather from the brief summary, this is leaning towards being a Horror/Apocalypse RPG. As all the RPGs that have been posted, this is a WIP and I hope that it is interesting enough for me to hack out more details! I'm pretty sure @EFMingo would join but I'm hoping to attract more people to make this story interesting.
I'm hoping to get this RPG up and running starting next week, starting off with an OCC first before I post the actually thread where the RPG will take place.
I do not have an exact number of people I would like to join being that it appears RPGs start and then they end up being a dead zone which I don't want to happen to mine. As previously stated, I plan to get this up and going next week. I am currently working on the OCC which will most likely will be posted Monday morning.
