The Scientist Whiskey Lullaby Concrete Angel Without You How Do You Get That Lonely Colour-blind Chasing Cars Wake Me Up When September Ends Sound the Bugle In the Arms of the Angel Time of Your Life Bright Eyes Goodbye My Lover Nowhere Why Flying Away Don’t Look Back in Anger Changing Alyssa Lies Hurt Those are some of the saddest songs of all time, in my opinion. Can you guys think of any more?
American Pie Its a sad, sad song *sad face* Edit: Also Letters from War. Beautiful song. It made me cry very manly tears.
Tim GcGraw Live like you were dying- sad but uplifting Red Ragtop- Dixie Chix Travelling Soldier- sniff oh and then there's Mad World, the emo anthem, by Gary Jules. and Jeff Buckley's version of Hallellujah is awesome. i don't really know if it counts as sad, but it sounds sad.
I think "Mad World" is sad enough to qualify, but the quantity of music I've heard is very limited : /. PS:Oops beaten to it for a full minute. >.<
On My Own from Les Miserables. I wish I was cultured enough to think of some good classical-music examples, but really I'm not. Valse Triste maybe?
I'll try to keep it short. Almost every song Damien Rice sings... Particularly: 9 Crimes Elephant Cheers Darlin' I Remember Then Go I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry - Cowboy Junkies version Would You Like - Dramarama Where Is My Boy - Faultline Castles Made of Sand - Jimi Hendrix It Doesn't Matter - Alison Krauss and Union Station Your Ghost - Kristen Hersh Roads - Portishead Satin Filled Roof - Sonic Animation And special mention to This Mortal Coil's version of Song to the Siren.
"Perfect" by the Smashing Pumkins "Romeo and Juliet" the covers by The Killers And I'd agree with your selection of green day sad songs.
Never heard of most of these songs. :/ The "Mad World" I'm used to is the Tears For Fears version! Can't stand the remake. "Pale," "Memories," and "Somewhere" from Within Temptation's The Silent Force make me want to cry. And Lee Ann (sic?) Womack's "I Hope You Dance." (It's not technically a sad song, but seeing the direction my life has gone in, it's sad to me.)
"Forget It" by Breaking Benjamin "Unknown Soldier" by Breaking Benjamin "Just a Dream" by Carrie Underwood
Numb-Pet Shop Boys This song made me cry the first time I heard it. It makes me cry when listening to it.
Every rose has it's thorn by Poison I Hurt Myself Today by Nine Inch Nails (there is also a cover of it by Johnny Cash which is really sad). Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) by Cinderella Heartbreak Station by Cinderella
I would say that that's a pretty sad song. It's made me cry, and I'm not really a crier. Yeah, pretty friggin sad. Other than that, I think the saddest song I know is "23" by Jimmy Eat World. Absolutely heartbreaking.
"Miss Misery" by Elliott Smith "Concrete Girl" by Switchfoot "You Are the Moon" by The Hush Sound "Writing To Reach" You by Travis
For me, it's always Rufus Wainright's version which gets me... And Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt (dunno if it's already been mentioned somewhere).
A Day in the Life is pretty darn sad. (I refuse to put up the artist there. You should just know. If you don't, you are probably around my age.)
I think a really sad song is Skin by Rascal Flatts, it reminds me of my grandmother when she had cancer But a very good song
The hungarian suicide song. banned in the U.S. Christmas Shoes. I know the artists for niether of these songs. Letters From War made me cry everytime I heard it. Which could've had something to do with my dad being in Iraq, but, still, sad, sad song.
I'm not big on sad songs, but I'd say "In Loving Memory" by Alter Bridge. BTW, I had to look up the artist who wrote "A Day In the Life." I'm really not fond of the Beatles at all.
The video to this song made me cry like a baby. Also see "What Hurts The Most" Rascal Flatts version, the video. Just the very end...='[ "Miserable at best" - Mayday Parade "Take a Bow" - Rihanna. Not particularly 'sad' but it makes me cry sometimes...I think it's just what i'd like to say to someone... =] "Bubblewrap" - McFly
