Hey moderators, got a question and an idea. Lets write an internet novel with 10,000 authors. Idea. Flow chart an idea, break it into sections and everybody writes ideas. Sick girl Molly,10-11 Spent life in and out of hospitals. best friend of 6 years, 4 doors down passes. Mollys Mom passed 4 years ago, cancer Just Molly and dad now. a year later Molly start new therapy. Over 1.5 yrs of getting better feels guilty about living when friend didn't Reenter middle school. Sick girl gets better. Labels and life. Trials and tribulations.
The phrase too many cooks comes to mind. Assuming you could make a decent story out of a project like this a flowchart wouldn't work. You would need a screenwriter's bible with character sheets, plots and sub plots mapped out. And a story idea that everyone could get behind.
Sorry, just a retired nurse with time. But this is good. My idea stinks, ok cool. What is a screenwriters bible? The flow chart I made last night. I jokingly labeled a post; novel writing for dummies. Now where to really find said book. Karma is a bitch and she just frenched kissed me.
Whoah there! Nobody said your idea stinks. You haven't done anything wrong, and there was nothing wrong with your other thread either. We were just contributing to what we assumed was a humorous thread, and adding in a few steps you seem to have missed, part seriously but part in fun and frivolity.
A screenwriters Bible, is typically used for a TV series, where you have multiple writers on the staff. It details each character, their traits, and arcs. It details the plot arcs for the season, and any plot points that must occur
In a way he did with the reference to futility in the title. I don't see the level of organization required for that kind of project. And I question how much appeal the idea would have in the marketplace. It might work for a more literary market.
You might be interested in entering the writing contests on this site. There are a few days left still to enter the flash fiction contest (max. 500 words) https://www.writingforums.org/threads/flash-fiction-contest-115-theme-pseudoscience.175362/ And a new short story contest opens the first of every month https://www.writingforums.org/weekly-short-story-contests/
Yeah, I saw your other thread too. A lot of us here are trying to figure out this writing game, and a lot of us have no idea what we're doing, lol. The contests especially (and then a subsequent workshop submission if you lose) is a great way to figure out your left from your right. Writing is a game of trial and error after all! Most people in this site are nice, so it's a great place to test your writing.
