Hi, my name is Tomas but I am usually known under my pseudonym Sang Hee. I'm from Sweden and I'm 27 years old although I tend to behave at least 10 years below that because I'm quite free-spirited without any commitments and a great job that gives me a lot of freedom. I work as a film editor and in my free time I make my own amateur movies. I have tons of hobbies but my biggest ones (besides writing) would be drawing/painting, video games, martial arts and cars. When it comes to reading I'm mostly interested in fantasy/sci-fi genre, no authors in particular but I liked David Eddings and Terry Pratchet the best. I probably won't be posting any of my works because I write about private lives of adult people and so they are not really appropriate for readers under 18 y/o (due to sexual content and harsh language). But I still want to talk about writing and help myself and others to improve in writing stories because this is what the forum is about. Yeah, I'll see you around I've read the rules, btw.
Hello Tomas, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Reading the rules is an excellent starting point. We have other reference posts to ease your integration into our little community of writers. Please read How to Use the Review Room before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hello Thomas, and welcome to the forum You´re right, you do have a great job I have the same hobbies as you, except the "cars" one. I can´t really name my favourite genre of book, cause i´ll read any type of story, if it captivates me. About the type of books you write, i kinda agree that´s inadequate for under 18 [i´m one of them], but honestly, every teenager that I´ve seen, uses harsh language, and knows perfectly the "sexual content" . Hope you´ll enjoy the forum.
I know and sometimes the sexual content is even a part of the plot but I'm just going with the rules that say there should be no erotica in here at all. But that's quite a problem for me too because I need to learn how to write these scenes properly yet I couldn't really find any literature that would help. Guess I could still post some parts that don't contain said elements or maybe some of my older stories that don't have it either.
I'm 67 years old and tend to behave at least 50 years below that. So, from one seventeen year old to another, Welcome to the forum.
